Jackh replied that we have historical cases where a male was tied by his genitals, given a knife and the choice to cut himself down.
A more recent horror of this is in the American south. There are cases, or at least one, in which a Black man had his ball sac nailed to the floor of an old building, given a large razor blade, the type used for shaving in the old-fashioned style. The building was set on fire. The man could either burn up with the building, or cut his balls off and flee. I do not remember the details of the first time I heard of this horror story (there were many). The man man have had the foreskin of his penis nailed to the floor as well. I grew up in the south during the times when such things took place. I left as soon as I was old enough to do so.

Similarily, as the legend goes, down here in East Texas; if a man had done a foul deed, like rape, or something like that, he was taken down to the swamp, and made to sit on a tree stump, and was nailed to the stump by his scrotum. He was given a knife. When the alligators approached, he could either free himself with the knife, or suffer what came.

I think those stories about the penis/testicles nailed to the burning building/stump are just different versions of an urban legend, as I've heard three versions from friends before; one while living in China, surprisingly. It was this story that first interested me in penectomy. The first time I heard it was from a girl back in Junior High. Shortly afterward I looked up the subject on the internet and discovered the Eunuch Archive (although I hate to admit that there have been fourteen year old kids lurking here). Does anyone know how old the Archive is anyway? I know I've read before, but can't remember. I believe I've been here since 1995.
