Alcohol consumption while on Siterone.

Post by hoosierdad (imported) »

With my docs permission I recently started taking Siterone to help lower my sex drive. He started me on Avodart 2 months ago to see what affect it had on me and it was pretty good at stopping all unwanted erections but did nothing for my libido. On Jan 3 I started taking 100 mg Siterone daily for 3 weeks and was advised to then drop down to 50 mg and see what happens. (My T level before starting was 710)

I have read that alcohol consumption can effect the anti-androgen properties of Siterone but wondered to what extent. I am a social drinker, usually 1-3 drinks daily and enjoy a little more on special events. Any ideas how much my drinking will effect the meds? My wife and I enjoy going out with friends and partaking of a few festive adult beverages but I do not want to ruin what we are trying to accomplish with Siterone.

I am looking forward to seeing if I can achieve some of the results other board members have. I am sick of my sex drive and want it to go away. It is ruining my marriage 😠 and I love my wife too much to divorce her.🤗

Thanks in advance for the advice.

Can't speak to the effect of alcohol on siterone, but it is anti-androgenic itself. Alcohol promotes conversion of testosterone to estrogen. Hence, the term "whisky dick..." for the drinker who can't get up.

I had taken cyproterone acetate (I think this is the same as siterone) for about 5 years before having myself surgically castrated. I never felt that there was any interaction with moderate beverage consumption. Not sure how that would be measured anyway. After about 6 weeks on siterone get your T level measured. Then abstain from those beverages for a month and get it checked again. See if you think it made any difference.

Aparently either there is not much info out there or at least nothing anyone wishes to share concerning on alcohol consumption while taking Cyproterone Acetate. Repeated blood testing is too expensive for me to start doing studies so I guess I will have to go at it myself and see what happens.

I would assume alcohol consumption plus pills has a similar effect as it has on most other medications: it might intensify the effects, it might cause more liver damage than usual (I recall one of the main problems with cyproterone acetate is that is has the potential for liver damage). As with *anything* your-mileage-may-probably-will-vary. Ta-da!
