For me its not S.A.D. or Seasonal Affective Disorder but C.A.D. or Christmas Affective Disorder! It starts when I see the first bits of Xmas crap being put out for sale in July and ends when the left overs are put on clearance on Dec 26th. Of course being Chronically Depressed does not help it all.

We made it past one holiday with the other approaching.
I don't see much in the way of the membership coming to the Board for relief.
It has been a, s-l-o-w weekend.
Somebody, please - upload.

Maybe it is this "Seasonal Affective Disorder" (S.A.D.) that is so talked about now, but I do not think so. Whatever the cause, I do really hate the time from about the first of November until sometime in March - after Valentine's Day is over with.
I believe that the reasons I hate the holiday season are dreadfully obvious.
-the INSANE pressure to buy buy buy more and more JUNK to pack into our already crowded lives.
-the traffic, and crowds, horrible here in my home town.
-the Salvation Army bell ringers.
-putting up the Christmas tree, and catching hell for everything wrong with the way things are with it.
-etc. etc. etc....
I could go on and on but I don't want to bore you anymore.
Suffice to say, I hate the commercialized Christmas we get these days.
Moi and Deacon,
I can relate since I definitely deal with S.A.D. It is real . I start dragging by the beginning of November and by now, I am waiting for the damn holidays to end. By the end of January, I am climbing the walls.
While I am a Christian, I only observe the 25th as a commemoration of Jesus' birth rather than a capitalistic orgy of spending and eating coupled with maqny unrealistic expectations.
Moi, there is hope and help for SAD. People who tell you to just "think positive" or simplistic pronouncements like that belie their fundamental lack of knowldege about SAD.
I wish you well.

I already announced my intentions to relatives, concerning new year - send my congratulations to all involved and go to sleep.
Fhunter, awaiting 10 days of holidays after the new year.
PS. At least the days are starting to get longer.

RiverIt is just after New Year here... 02:30 in the morning. Congratulations sent, presents, etc - all done. This year it was surprisingly quiet.
Fhunter. Still not sleeping
PS. It is not really cold here... -5 to -15 (Celsius of course), but with wind it can be really unpleasant. I am waiting for spring, and envious of California
