I have read that Spiro is a pretty weak anti angrogen as compared to Finasteride. Also, a cursory look on This thread seems to show Depo or Androcure as the main drug of choice here.
However, why do many transexxuals take spiro and why was it popular in the past?
Spironolactone

As far as I know, spironolactone is approved by FDA and androcur is not approved.
Second consideration is price - spironolactone is cheaper (at least in Russia).
Finasteride as antiandrogen? It only inhibits conversion from testosterone to DHT, so I do not think it is frequently used as a primary/only antiandrogen.

Finasteride may have a very small effect if any. Spiro will work and is used very often to reduce male hormones. Androcure does seem to have more effect hen spiro. Androcur has to be ordered from out side the states.
Wish you luck in your quest.
