Dear readers,
First of all, thanks in advance for reading this and helping me. English is not my native language, but I will try my best!
Wel, let's go:
I'm a 25 year old male, and have a nice girlfriend for more than 3 years now. The relationship is almost perfect and where thinking about moving in together.
But unfortunately, the main problem I/we cope with lately, is the huge difference in sexdrive. I think the problem is mostly at my side. Example: When I have a day off, and I spend my day behind the PC, I masturbate 6-10 times a day. If it could I would like to have sex 4-6 times a day, which I know is really really really a lot. My girlfriend wants to have sex 1-2 times a week, which I think is more normal.
The difference in sexdrive is creating some tension and relationship problems. Because of that, I really would like to temper my sexdrive by reducing hormones/testosterone.
I thought of taking Spironolactone orally ED, which reduces my testosterone and reduces my high sexdrive.
How much Spironolactone would I have to take ED? Or should I consider CPA? Also, we would like to have kids in the future, is longterm Spiro or CPA affecting fertility? My goal is to 'want' sex 1-2 times a week, and masturbate 1 time a week or so. But I really don't want to lose the abilty to get and maintain an erection. Is this possible? For example: Is taking 100 - 200 mg Spiro ED strong enough to reduce my sexdrive, but will I be to get/maintain an erection and will I be firtile if I stop taking the stuff after a couple of years?
I hope you can help me with this problem.
Thanks in advance,

First of all - after staying "a couple of years" on CPA or Spironolactone, you have very high probability of becoming infertile.
There is no defined point of irreversible changes, but most common mentioned is 6 months.
Both Cyproterone and Spironolactone work by lowering testosterone levels => after some time your testicles will atrophy, with all consequences of this.
Spiro is weaker than Cyproterone as an antiandrogen.
As far as the ability to maintain erection is concerned - YMMV. Everyone is different.
I have seen posts here about using antidepressants to lower sex drive (if my memory isn't playing tricks on me). May be this can be helpful.
PS. Does you GF know?

Re: Need to lower my sexdrive (drastically), some questions...
My only concern here is that it sounds like the apparent mismatch between your sex drives is the only reason for your interest. It goes without saying that you need to discuss this with your GF, because if you start messing with your hormones, your body will change as well. What if she is no longer as attracted to you afterward? What if you later want to have kids and you've messed up your fertility?
I'm also not so sure you have an irregularly high sex drive. It could be that your sex drives are just mismatched. I know some women with very high sex drives. I've also read articles that suggest the progestins in certain birth control pills may be dulling the sex drives of many women... and because the generations before "the pill" never really discussed sex, you can't scientifically measure how horny women are "supposed to" be... (I need to see if I can find some of these - might be of interest to others in the forum)...

At 25 years old your sex drive is still in high gear. It will drop off as you age. 20 years from now you would wish you still had the drive and ability.
Chemical castration will lower your hormones. There is really no way you can try for only 1 or 2 relations with the GF a week. Your drive will be all week long. With lower hormones the penis will not get as hard. You many have far less semen ejaculated in sex. Your orgasm will be far different and my not be what you want. Your body will change. Some will not be able to be undone. Sex drive has a very high degree of who and what you are. You love will change with the loss on sex drive. Your interests in the GF or future GS's will change.
Long term use of the drugs can have lasting results. Could very well never recover your hormone level.
You will most likely change girlfriends or wife in the next 2-3 years. With the new one the sex drive may be much higher. Results is you will not have the drive to satisfy her.
The old tried and true way to reduce the number of times you have intercourse with the GF is to just masturbate. Masturbating as long as you and as much you feel the need. In a few years the drive will just drop. No sense to take actions now that will change in a few years. Masturbating will get the enjoyment and not effect your life.

Re: Need to lower my sexdrive (drastically), some questions...
Thank you for all responses.
I think, the summary of all this, that CPA or Spiro is way too risky/strong to be used for a lower sexdrive (in my case). I will look into anti-depressants and/or talk with my girfriend.
Still, there remain some questions.
I read about the irreversible changes of CPA/Spiro, espescially when taken in large amounts. You get infertile etc when it totally shuts down the testosterone production for a long time. But also when it's a medium/low dose of Spiro and just lowers a percentage of the produced testosterone?
If I take spiro 100mg ED, which is a medium/low dose, will this create irreversible changes aswell? It will not block 100% testosterone, but some percentage.
It's also widely known that spiro is used since the 1970's, for being a diuretic. At that time it was being used by men aswell as women, for long times. All those men didn't become sterile?! Spiro is also used today, for people with heart problems. If it would make you sterile in low doses, it wouldn't be subsribed, would it?
I hope you can answer my questions!
Thanks in advance and take care!

Re: Need to lower my sexdrive (drastically), some questions...
In the world of anti-androgen drugs, Spironolactone is virtually never administered as a primary drug. It has unlabeled uses for treatment of hirsuitism, treatment of familial male precocious puberty and short-term treatment of acne vulgaris. Impotence is listed as an adverse effect which shows that it is not generally intended as a testosterone lowering med. Nothing is listed as far as impotence being reversible or not. It can cause enlargement of the breasts which is reversible.
You know what the pro and cons of castration are. Its up to you to evaluate them and see how it fits with your perceived needs. If you decide castration might be a good option for you, I and probably most others here would recommend a lengthy trial of chemical castration. While Spironolactone can lower testosterone levels somewhat, it is not capable of lowering them to castrate levels. You may experience some of the effects when your testosterone level is lowered, you won't have a total picture unless you do some blood testing and then whatever else may be appropriate to get your testosterone level to castrate level. If Spironolactone lowers your T level by half and you are pleased with that, you can't assume that there will be no unpleasant or unacceptable effects when the other half of your T is removed. You need an extended time with your testosterone level at or very near castrate level to get the entire picture. Without any testing, you have no subjective clue what your level is.
