Theres a schizoid quality to our relationship with animals, in which sentiment and brutality exist side by side. Half the dogs in America will receive Christmas presents this year, yet few of us pause to consider the miserable life of the pig an animal easily as intelligent as a dog that becomes the Christmas ham.
-- Michael Pollan.
God loved the birds and invented trees. Man loved the birds and invented cages.
-- Jacques Deval.
Humans who enslave, castrate, experiment on, and fillet other animals have had an understandable penchant for pretending animals do not feel pain. A sharp distinction between humans and animals is essential if we are to bend them to our will, wear them, eat them without any disquieting tinges of guilt or regret.
-- Carl Sagan.

Re: animality
I hate to change topic, but ever since you've put it up I just have to ask.
What's up with that cat?? That is seriously the most pissed-off cat I think I've ever seen. There is no way I'd want to be on staff for that feline.

Re: animality
I found it in some LIvejournal cat community.

Re: animality
I have never tried to bathe Rupert but he is not put off by water. If its raining but not hard, well he has no problem being outside in it. He has come in so wet that I have had to towel him off and that ticks him off.
