Wank Week looks at the 20-a-day men

Channel 4 has confirmed another show in its "Wank Week" season - a documentary about compulsive masturbators.

Independent producer Spun Gold has been commissioned to make the one-hour programme following two men trying to kick their habit.

The as-yet unnamed show is the second programme in the themed week to be unveiled, following MediaGuardian.co.uk's revelation last week that Channel 4 is to broadcast a documentary about a mass masturbation for charity, given the working title "Wank-a-thon".

One of the participants in the new show - who says he masturbates 20 times a day - has already been cast, but the producer is seeking a second male for the programme.

The compulsive masturbators will be filmed hearing about different ways to cut down, focusing particularly on methods used in the US.

The documentary has been commissioned by the Channel 4 head of entertainment, Andrew MacKenzie.

There actually has been cross-cultural research done on frequency of masturbation. Peak frequency, of course, is among boys ages 15 to 20. World-wide, the average frequency for boys that age is one to three times per day with over 75% of boys falling within that range and a few both higher and lower.

Even thinking back to my teenage years, 20 times a day sounds like a nightmare.

I didn't discover masturbation until I was fourteen, but as much as I loved it then, I don't ever remember doing it more than three times in one day, and I would guess once or twice a day was more like it. I rarely let a day go by without jacking off at least once, though.

I don't know whether I would have wanted to do it twenty times a day -- even then -- but looking back -- four or five times a day might have been nice.

Jesus, see if you can find out what kind of lubricant the guy that did it twenty times a day used.

I did not start until the rather late age of 16. I did it a lot, but nowhere near that much. I would say I fell into the normal range from 16-20.

At that age my maximum was 9 times a day. I did it few times. But after that my penis was quite sore. And I lost appetite for masturbation for 2-3 days.

you can imagine, there is 24 hours in a day. 8 hours you sleep. Then you have 16 hours available for masturbation. Normally It took me at least 30 minutes to recover, after 4 times much more. So you can imagine that 20 times will take at least a whole day...

What a waste of time!

I began masturbating at an early age - perhaps 4 years old. In my early teens I would masturbate 1 or 2 times a day. I tried to stop doing it once and could only last about a week before giving in. Maximum number of times in one day was 4 or 5 but only on rare occasions. After marriage, I would often masturbate on a daily basis despite having intercourse 2 or 3 times a week. Now in my 60's, I don't masturbate as often - about once a week and have sex with my wife about once a week.

I was 15 when I discovered how much fun I could have by myself. Three times was the most fun I would have in a day. Living in a house with one bathroom and sharing a bedroom with my brother I was lucky to get three times happening. Back then safe sex was making sure the bathroom door was locked. Twenty times a day I would need someone to deliver meals and vitamins. I would also need carpal tunnel surgery.
