What ever! You win
well i have to throw my 2 cents in here. i lost a friend today. she will never chat in this room again. she made an innocent comment in the room that was meant to be funny and not directed at anyone in particular and certainly not aimed at the one that drove her off. But like so many women before her, she became the villon and was mercylessly attacked for 2 weeks.
i just deleted mIRC from her laptop and she dropped IEunuch and Christina from her IM. She never had an interest in this site or its subject matter. she just came here to chat because i live here. no other reason. she has no desire to see me change and it would be hard for us if i was not male. but at least she let me be me. i am sad for that now.
i also have canceled my hotel reservations for August 4th. i see no reason to go anywhere by myself. i still plan on dropping off the computer for IEunuch to fix the site with and i may return to chat but i doubt it.
for what its worth, you win. have a nice life.

Re: What ever! You win
I'm going to say it one more time.
Actually it's been a while.
Throughout the course of the Archive, ever since I showed up many years ago, there has a been a problem with identified women using the boards/chat/etc.
It seems that women come under "attack", literally and metaphorically, when they are publically known as women.
I have had complaints by female users of the Archive of email floods, PM floods, harrassment, you name it. It's been a while since a lady came to me for help. I think most of them take this route that S.T. mentions and just leave.
And still, posters wonder why there are no active WOMEN on the Boards or chat.
Well, do you NEED to wonder why?
It's regretable, yes, and for what it's worth I'm sorry for it, S.T., and to your friend as well.
But as I said, it's an age-old problem.

Re: What ever! You win
Yoli here,
Ash(leigh) made one of her rare visits to the message boards a few minutes ago (she's pretty much a "Stories" visitor.) She spotted this thread and asked me what I thought of it all.
Well, since I don't have to go to the office, just do some stuff for the firm from here, I can take time to respond.
Let me say, unequivocally, that for the most part our association with The EA has been a pleasant and informative one. We did, however, opt out of chat because of:
Constant requests for private chats that were virtually identical in nature..."Please tell me how you'd castrate me!"
A few, but obnoxious, types that seemed to detest genetic females and made snide comments.
Barry, our eunuch friend and all-round fun person, refuses to even post messages because of my experiences in the chat, despite my encouragement to give it a try. I've long felt that he'd be well-treated, in that he could be the ideal "poster boy" for elective castration...cutie!
On the bright side...So far as my experience with the message boards goes I can honestly say that I (and, by association, Ash) have been treated with courtesy, warmth, and a general spirit of welcome. Other members have tolerated my tendency toward verbosity and excruciating detail and that is most appreciated. When other aspects of life have kept me away for a lengthy period your seeming delight at my return touches me deeply.
One of my greatest regrets is that my career does not lend itself to my being able to post pictures of myself...(and the Oscar for hottest avatar goes to...
) and more fully participate in the group's activities. I also regret that Barry will not allow me to share pics of him, even with his face hidden. Well, there ARE distinguishing marks...an empty baggie and truly beautiful peepee to name two...but others that might somehow "out" him in his home city. (Oxymoron of the Day: Beautiful Lubbock.)
I am so sorry that another lady felt unwelcome here. I hope that, in time, that can be resolved and that she might return. Frankly, I guess I missed all the furor involving her. I don't even know who she is.
Well, back to muttering over a case.
Love and that sort of thing,
Yolanda AKA...you know.

Re: What ever! You win
Toad and Sarah
Don't leave the Eunuch Archive or the chatroom, either of you, just because of the rudeness of a few insecure or inadequate males in chat who had nothing better to do than attack the only drop dead beautiful, senuous unmarried female in chat.
Sarah liked me finally and that's not easy to do as I can be a horny, womanizing, chavenistic pig wolf. I like Sarah too. Besides, she FAR CUTER than Toad is
.
As Lord Paolo has often said so eloquently, it is TOUGH for women coming into the chatroom. Numerous males sees them as a potential castrators hence an an object of sexual fantasy or reality.
Other guys have seen women as a threat to this, mostly male dominated Gentlemen's Club.
The few insensitive or short sighted morons don't seem to realize women come her for several reasons. Some like WOBG, Ashley and Yoli came for fun and to meet nice guys, like me
for casual chat. Sarah came to be with Toad, to joke with IE and Christina, to greet all the chatters and to playfully tease a senior citizen wolf
I enjoy chat more when women come in to talk, seek information or to flirt. I want to see more women here.
Most of all, I want my friend Sarah and my friend surf_toad to return. I want them to feel welcomed. I want them to feel comfortable expressing their opinions even if they are contrary to the opinions of others.
Every man, woman, TV, TG, etc should be made to feel welcomed in our chatroom. We have an open forum for many gender related topics that need discussing and rehashing.
The actions of a few (or one) regular chatter should not be the cause of us losing two valuable contributors like Sarah and Toad.
Come home to chat you two. Yes, I SAID HOME. I regard the Eunuch Archive Boards and chatroom as my ONLY real home. I have made lifelong friends here like Toad, Sarah, Lilac, Christina, IEunuch, Ken_SD, Joshie, Riverwind, Jesus, Bobbie, OBB, Matt, Talula, Paolo, Robby, Krister, NZ Master_John and even Count Blah.
I love all of you like family. I DON'T WANT TO LOSE Toad or Sarah...they are my brother and sister and I care for both of them deeply.
In Crisis or Discourse, we should come closer together, not separate.
To be political for a second....United we stand and divided we fall.
We need to stand together...support each other...
We are family
You all are my family.

MacTheWolf - Although we don't agree on many things politically, I'm 100% with you on this post!!!
This should be a safe and welcome harbor.

Re: What ever! You win
There are so many issues that surround gender these days, with most not really knowing what their roles in society even are anymore. It would appear that none of the genders really have defined roles what so ever. This can make things intellectually difficult as stereotypical males attempt to find their place in the universe. They have been told repeatedly by news and television, even film media that they are essentially genetic lummoxes that have no greater position to hold than that of gardener, lawn mower, ditch digger, ape slave and guardian of a higher being. Telling males they really have no aptitude in most things lends them not to correct this bereft affect, but rather to embrace its lack of responsibilities.
They then feel they are expected to be of a certain ilk and act out on it in very disrespectful ways which they feel should have no social repercussions. Online, it's even easier to get by with never improving. But the repercussions are obvious, as more and more people abandon chat rooms over injured emotions and growing repulsion.
I have seen a marginal bit of this HNG abberance lust myself and avoid those that PM me without permission or regard to my reason for being in the chat room. Just a brief mention of my transsexuality inspires a lot of interest also. I guess I say all this to say I am very sorry you two have decided to leave the chat, but I can relate to why you made the decision also. Most everyone merits a degree of respect that is often unheeded in the virtual society.
:HUGE HUGS: for the both of you, and I pray the very best for your relationship together.
Also, this emoticon is super cute!

Well,
I have been to the chat room only once. I was enticed there by Antonia. Historically, I have avoided it like the plague...
By the way, has anyone heard form Antonia? Is she still with us?

Yes, I think we did win and we are very lucky to have both of you back in this site. Having a level headed person in here is so rewarding. Mr. Toad is a real asset to this site. I am looking forward to meeting both of you in less then three weeks. Welcome back and never stay away so long again.
