Hello. I am interested in becoming an eunuch. I want to become an eunuch because I don't want to be controlled by my desires, sex feels like something 'alien' to me.

It seems as if sex is just like pushing a big red button repeativily that connects to the brain reward system, there is no constructive outcome from it. (Do most eunuchs think this?)

Anyway my main concern with castration is the cognitive loss, but unfortunately I can not find enough material on the matter.

I hear that spatial intelligence and short term memory decline, but to what degree?

Anyone who has become an eunuch, have you noticed any tasks (ie at work/school, etc) in your life that have become considerabely harder?

What cognitive beneifits have you noticed, if any? with the beneifits, would you say that overall there is a cognitive net loss?

Preferably, does anyone have a link to a scientific paper related on the subject on cognitive decline in eunuchs?

I agree completely with your first paragraph. I did want to break the control that sex had over me. I wanted to control my actions and not have the addiction driving me.

As far as memory loss is concerned I have some loss but I am also about to turn 50 and some meory loss is due to age. I also have memory loss from long term exposure to stress and PTSD. I have never found any work tasks becoming more difficult. I am not distracted by thoughts of sex that used to pull focus from what I am doing. Well not as much.

First of all, welcome to EA!

Haven't noticed any cognitive disadvantages since my castration 11 months ago (no HRT). But here's a change worth mentioning: I now listen to music most of the time at work. Before, music would have been a distraction. (I'm a computer programmer.) Now, music is like fuel. Without music, work is dull and drab.

As for spatial reasoning, I made a terribly wrong turn while driving last weekend -- but I was extremely calm about being lost.

Being on a testosterone regime, I'm not sure I'm any longer qualified to comment. In any event, I became hypogonadic for a while prior to castration. There was some loss of short-term memory - energy as well. When I first started ingesting testosterone supplementation, my doc warned me that one of the effects I'd notice most was an improvement in short-term memory. He was so right on! The improvement was phenomenal and almost immediate. My energy levels also increased. I don't have them now, and they'd be 7-10 years old in any event, but I also recall finding academic papers saying the same thing at the time. Just 'google' testosterone for papers on the efffects of testosterone supplementation. A few recent papers have noted that testosterone plays a role in delaying or preventing dementia and Altzheimers. This is fortunately a side effect that you might test with chemical reduction in testosterone before you go for surgical removal of your testes.

Every one has different reactions to the loss of testosterone. Some will get lost easly, some will have short term memery loss and some will have hot flashes. The loss of energy, body hiar, will very. The best way is to try short term chemical castration less then 6 months before deciding to have your testicles removed.

Oh, hell, you can ask anyone who knows me - when my T. levels first bottomed out, right along with the first hot flash, I became such a scatterbrain that I needed a secretary just to keep track of my keys and smokes and such. You get used to it after a while.

Just to say that I was castrated at age 72 but still gained my university degree in Information Technology and Computing by distance learning from the Open University in England at age 74.

There is still hope for me. I'm in my sixties and considering more education.

I have had castration effects for over 3 years now. I have not noticed any changes in memory that I can notice. I do seem to processes some thoughts and feeling things differently.
