Feminization

What level of feminization can I expect if I take 1 mg oral estrogen daily (2 mg every other day for now because I have so many left over)? Will it become difficult after a period of time to pass as male? Will there be any other difficulties?
Is it possible to take estrogen on a regular basis and live as a man without incident indefinitely, or is estrogen meant to be taken only when transition from male to female is the goal?

That's really a question no one can answer with certainty, sweetie. It's even possible that without injesting any hormones you may have some level of feminization.
There is a member here that has taken a low dose of Premarin for health reasons, but cannot, or should not, go out in public without a shirt (P.S. you have met him).

Another dual standard: A guy with large breasts can go out in public without a shirt but a gal with even small or no breasts must wear a top. Why?

actually, here in NY, it is legal for a woman to go out without a shirt on...but it's never done...common sense says for them not to bring unwanted attention that doing so would attract.

I think that depends on the situation, and if the person appeared as male or female. For instance a non-op transsexual is still considered legally male, yet would most likely be arrested for indecent exposure.
Being male with large breasts would probably also attract too much unwanted attention and might result in some sort of conflict with authorities.

It will not feminize you face. It will give you hips and boobs. As long as the breast growth is mild you should be able to pass as a male, hiding the cruving body with bagy clothing. Also the older you get the less of a problem it will be as alot of males do end up with some Gynecomastia.

From July thru December (about 5 months) I took estrogen in doses progressing from 1 to 4 mg daily. The highest, 4 mg, lasted about 2 months. I got some starting breast development but nothing close to a cup size. There was some softening of facial skin but no real facial feminization. Nothing in the hip department either. I am pretty skinny, so I'm not sure how that factors in. I am still treated without hesitation as male (there were stares before I cut my hair however - probably because I was clearly a man and trying to look like a woman), so I think it's safe to assume my short experimentation with estrogen did little to feminize me. I could be one of those people who will never respond well, who knows. But the short time and even shorter time with a high dose and possibly my weight could have something to do with it too.
I have no idea what I want. Do I want to be feminized? If I don't and take estrogen, what then? But if I do want feminization and don't take it, what then? Which is worse?
I am not in a position to afford a gender therapist, although I would definitely be seeing one if I could. Counselors at free or low cost or school clinics usually do not have the expertise to work with gender confused people.
