Harry Potter and the Potion of Power

Post by Slammr (imported) »

I've had one personal message objecting to this Harry Potter story I'm writing. While I'm certain JK Rowling would object to it, I did check with Paolo before posting it. I think it's a harmless spoof on her characters. It's definitely not being written for any monetary gain, but just as a fun, new -- perhaps more realistic way -- to look at Harry Potter and friends.

I'm having fun with it. That's the only reason I'm writing it -- for fun. The next chapter is almost ready. But if enough people object to it, I won't continue. We do have the precedence of Paolo's Harry Potter story which is posted on the Archive.

Give me some feedback as to whether I should continue with the story. I certainly don't want to jeopardize either me or the Archive with the copyright police.

Keep going! You post adequate warnings (almost too many) for those who may not approve of the content. Each of us is responsible to self-police what we choose to read. None of us is responsible to police what everyone else reads. Mrs. Rowling is a genius and imitation is the ultimate flattery.

Incidently, the story is going great. I'd like to hear more about Harry and Ginny. Keep those chapters coming!

If it's Harry and Ginny you want, you will love the next chapter.

My typical reply to objection or flaming, etc., is:

(and you may copy it)

"Which part of 'fuck off' do you not understand? The 'fuck', or the 'off'?"

Please continue your story.

As far as I am concerned the less we interfere with writers the better. Please, continue. --FLO--

For those of you reading my "Harry Potter" -- and I see from the stats some are -- what do you think J. K. Rowling would think about my Harry? Personally, I think mine's a little more human than hers, which, at times, seems no more than a cardboard cutout. At least my Harry has more described human experiences than the snogging she describes, although she may hint at more in the following quote where she indicates that Ginny has, at least seen Harry without his shirt, which, apparently, the other girls haven't:

"You'd think people had better things to gossip about," said Ginny, as she sat on the common room floor, leaning against Harry's legs, and reading the Daily Prophet. "Three dementor attacks in a week, and all Romilda Vane does is ask me if it's true you have a hippogriff tattooed across your chest."

Hmmm. I wonder what is going on behind the scenes in her Harry Potter. Of course, she is writing a children's book, which limits her more than me.

I'm having fun writing down Harry's story, as he tells it to me. I'm not the author of this story. I'm just the typist. Harry's telling the story. I often don't know what's going to happen until it happens. The central event in Chapter 3, for instance. That wasn't planned. Until the moment I typed it in, I had no idea it was going to happen. If you haven't done much writing, you won't understand what I'm saying, but I think many of the authors will. I didn't plot this story out. I had a general idea about what might happen -- and it still may -- but until I type, I have no idea what's happening next. Don't think you know what's going to happen next, because I don't. That's what makes writing this story so much fun.

I must admit that I have not yet read your Harry Potter story, being not quite done with JK Rowlings latest and not wanting spoilers...That being said...Write on! There are stories out there that I don't think I'd like so I don't read them (GASP, shocking solution I Know!)

Can this be a bit of envy? wyliefan94 has the solution to this problem, unless there is nothing on the web that suits janitorbox.

Slammr, please continue this series; I'm enjoying it immensely. Like most everything else of yours I have found on the EA I think it's very well done.

Best wishes!
