Fit eunuchs

Those that know my story and that I had my balls harvested in part for reasons of pain and other problems stemming from them being very tight and living in my inguinal canals most of the time. I have few problems with my sexuality and am still active sexually. My testosterone levels were low, and I was on HRT prior to castration and still am. One of my objectives as I age - now 61 y.o. - is to remain as fit as I can despite the absence of testicles. I run several times weekly (upwards to 15-20 km) and commute by cycle to work 25 km daily for my cardio. I also do a light routine with weights almost daily. I also play volleyball and badminton in leagues, mostly w/ guys half my age. My resting heart rate's at about 157, and my blood pressure was last measured at 120/70.

Well, this is the time of year - 3rd year now - where I run competitively. It's one of the few opportunities one gets to see how he compares with others. It's also the 3rd year for competing in the Vancouver International Marathon. This past Sunday was the day. I did the half with about 7,000 others (about as many did the full marathon as well) of both genders and all age groups. I did better than ever and am proud of myself. My overall performance in the race was good. At 1:49, my overall performance was in the 85th percentile. I shaved over 7 minutes from last year's performance. I ranked 7 of 67 in my age group and was thus in the 89th percentile (16th and 78th percentile last year). One of my younger buds asked if I'd won my age group? While I didn't, I was only 12 minutes out and can perhaps see my way to doing it another year. While I didn't achieve my weight objective of 135 #s, I was 140 #s and about 15 #s lighter than when I was castrated 5 years ago. I was sore afterward, but it was a great excuse for my BF to give me a deep massage. I was tired the rest of Sunday and took 2 naps, but I'm almost fully recovered now and will begin training for another half at the end of June.

I guess my performance w/o testicles is normal for a lot o' guys, especially those that have themselves castrated so they can obtain HRT and become even more fit.

Did you really mean to say that your resting heart rate is 157? That seems dangerously high.

In any case, your story indicates that endurance ability is normal for eunuchs, which is good news.

What about strength/power ability? I have taken testosterone before and definitely noticed increases in strength, so I have to believe that having low testosterone would be a detriment. What's your experience?

You're so correct. My heart rate's 100 less than 157.

Yeah, lean muscle tone, memory and energy levels seem to be improved considerably by ingesting testosterone.

Jeff, It was great to hear about your training. You are in fantastic shape. It's awesome, isn't it?

I'm 48. My testicles got torn when I was 14 and I've been on T since 19 (you probably know this because we've posted each other before). I weigh 240 at 6'2" and last time I checked, I was 9.1% bodyfat. I do 40 min on the bike each morning and about 1 1/2 hrs of weight training after work every day. Plus I do Pilates twice a week and stretch almost every day.

I surf on the weekends in Santa Cruz when the weather is good. I ski in the winter. And I hike or Kayak every day on vacations with my wife.

My resting heart rate is a little higher than your's at 64, but I can still get my heart rate up to about 191. I get it up to about 175 every day and maintain that rate, 181 once a week, and 190 or so every two weeks.

I don't use much weight any more, but I still bench 315 for reps, squat 315 for reps, and deadlift 405. A few years ago I would squat 495 for 8 reps every week and I would deadlift 595 for three reps multiple sets. But as you get older you have to baby your joints so you can last a long time. Thats why I don't run much. At my weight it blasts the joints. Biking and swimming seem to work better for me.

The Testosterone makes all the difference. Sometimes I take GH too and that helps me recover even better.

This is a great idea for a thread, I hope we hear from many more.

Thanks Jeff

You sound in great shape indeed. Keep doing it. My body fat's ~10%, and my ideal weight's probably about 5-10 #s less than now. I have a small frame. Even though 61 y.o., I can run because I'm light and because I have super arches.

I had myself castrated 5 years ago in part so that I could continue running. My gonads were very tight and spent much of their time in my inguinal canals. I was evacuated twice to hospital during runs when the right one went up so far as to run into a hernia, causing intense pain and cramps. I was fine as soon as the ER folks massaged it back into the sac. That's when I decided that I should follow the medical advice I'd received years earlier and have them harvested. I know longer have to be concerned where they are. Running and other athletic pursuits are amazingly comfortable w/o balls.

Jeff,

I've had similar problems. After the injury my testicles shrunk from the damage to the blood vessels. That meant they could slip up inside of me and get strangled. This continues to happen to me - Sometimes I wake up at night in agony. The cords have shortened a little too, so my nuts are close to my body. Sometimes I think it would feel so good to sleep without feeling my sack stretching when I'm on my side with my legs bent. But I just can't bear to part with my balls. My doctor wants to harvest my left one right now because she thinks it is a risk... but it freaks me out - the whole manhood thing. It's a process, right? I mean, accepting that kind of change. It's better than getting testicular cancer, which is what my doctor wants to avoid.

If you want to lose a few pounds just start drinking protein drinks during the day and cut out carbs except during your workout (and on Friday night of course). You'll lose ten pounds in about a month and a half, and you'll be sporting an awesome six-pac!

Jeff, do you do any weight training?

Yeah, I think those of us that come to the point of losing our balls because they're exceptionally troublesome or diseased just have to get there at our own speed. I know I definitely wasn't ready to lose mine at 23 years when an urologist told me I should think seriously about having them removed. I'm also glad I didn't at that time, especially as I went on to sire children. Even after I knew my days of siring kids was over, I was initially reluctant to have them removed. It's only that they were causing real problems that I gradually came to the view that I'd be better off w/o them and sought their removal. Even then, they were removed one at a time. I can add though that only once in over 5 years has any one said anything negative about my being ballless. Indeed, hardly anyone has ever said anything. I'm still the same man, just a ballless one. I've been a life long nudist. I was initially quite anxious about what people would think about the obviously empty remnant of a sac hanging between my legs at nude beaches, etc., but I've gradually become unconcerned. A friend was even insistent that I have at least small implants inserted, but I had decided I'd just be ballless. I now think little about the absence of balls when I disrobe.

I do only very little weight training. I do some and have decided I should be doing more. I have 2 dumbbells that I use at 30 and 40 #s. I'd like to have that 6-pack. I know I like the looks of toned guys and would like to have more tone myself. I also like thin guys and don't want to over do it. I also want to be able to continue doing the things I can do because I'm thin.

At 73 I walk about two miles a day...you guys make me feel like a sluggard. Anyway I never extercised until 26 years ago when I had a severe virial attack. I am lucky to have survived that but I am paying for it now because I am totally deaf in my left ear as an aftermath. I had two large dogs and we walked/ran for years. Each died when 17. I think the exercise was great for them too. I have slowed up somewhat but the doctors seem satisfied that I do what I do.With cancer, hypertension, and diabetes, I am sort of a walking pill-mobile; however I keep trucking. My hats off to you guys. :) :) :)
