Ok everybody, there is a reason that my home town and the state of which I am from has Stars. You tell me of any other state or country that has a nebula named after it?

I lived in Texas for two years (USAF) in Lubbock, yet everbody from Texas that I talk to says thats not Texas, did I miss something or is it really part of Oklahoma?

I think I will stop now before I get into more trouble.

No, it's a colony of extra-terrestrial aliens - they landed there in the 50's ...

Remember the Lubbock Lights, well that was the terrestrial aliens signalling the extra-terrestrial aliens to Come on Down.

they kidnapped "W" and replaced him with a robot, you know. ANd they used a slightly-faulty, soemwhat out-of-date model 37 brain normally used for chimpanzees when they sit and spread (well that's just too harsh)

🥴

River, Lubbock just "slipped in under the fence" when the borders were drawn. Some are Texan but most are misplaced Okies. As for California having more than Texas, that may be true, but always remember, "Everything is big in Texas." If you don't believe me, just come over and check me out!

Oh! Damn! Did I say that????

Indeed. Several years ago a group of Gibbons escaped from the LA zoo on Christmas Day. The proceeded to eat quite a few people before being recaptured, which just goes to show that Yule Gibbons ate fruits and nuts.🙄

As a fourth generation Californian, I've always thought of California as "the land of fruits and nuts," though it certainly meant something very different when the phrase was coined.

As far as I can tell, the phrase was first used in The Simple Jography or How to Know the Earth...and Why It Spins, by Peter Simple (Boston: John W. Luce & Co., 1908). It's one of the few books on my shelf that my kids are seriously fighting over. I've just found an additional copy so that they can each get one - though I'm not giving them up while I'm alive.

I just checked, this is post number 38,000 since the last crash of the EA system. There have been a lot on interesting conversations in that time.
