Here are a couple of ideas I had, while reading through some of the posts since Bboy's passing.

I don't read fiction myself; but perhaps an award for the best archive story each year, not anything tangible, but just a recognition of accomplishment for writers who contribute to the archive, could be started. Possibly it could be called the Bboy memorial award, and could be announced on his birthday every year. Bboy's interest was penectomy, so perhaps an award of that kind could be voted on for the author of the best penectomy story of the year. Since most readers are interested in castration stories, perhaps two awards could be announced, the second one to be for the best story of all those submitted to the archive. No idea how the selection process would be managed. I would guess the only person who reads all the stories, is Paolo.

Beyond that, I don't think Bboy ever felt that the ultimate version of his favorite story idea had ever been written. Perhaps Slammr, Nathan, Pueros, and a couple of others could get together and write up a genuinely good--possibly even literarily distinguished--version of the story. Just thinking about the scenario Bboy presented, a reasonably good story might be developed, if there were some character development before the fellows get out on the beach. There could even be a regular plot of some kind.

I can understand how Talula feels about the loss of Bboy. It is both the curse and the transcendent character of human beings, that we can develop relationships in which other persons become part of our own personalities, and our lives develop together. It even happens between people and pets. It is part of the beauty of being human, but unfortunately also part of the tragedy. But we also heal, and find a way to go on.

I've been posting a story I wrote for B. back in 2001. I found it in the bottom of the holding bin for stories, where it's been since 2001. Rather than just destroy it, I recopied it and am formatting it for suitable posting here at The Archive.

There must have been SOMETHING to it, judging by the number of times that B. read it. He was the only other person besides me who had access to the link, since it was never 'published' to the server. He read it over 200 times.

I hope that other readers enjoy it as well.

It's painful, to say the least, seeing as how HE was there IN PERSON and looking over my shoulder while I was using Gemm's computer at EC to write it.

During dinner that night, the inspiration for the Archive Christmas Story came to mind, right at the table.

You can find it at that link. Our Hero is the main character in the last vignette of the story of an avenging Santa Claus visiting bad boys...of course, B. was a good boy that year and got just what he wanted.

For what it's worth, I lost a very dear friend - probably the best friend I ever had - when I was 20 and in college. To this day, I have never forgotten how bad it hurt. 17 years of maturity does nothing for the pain, either, especially when it's repeated. As I said, for what it's worth, I'm so sorry that Talula (and anyone else) has now had to endure this.

It is said in theoretical Psychology that unresolved pain of loss, or failure to work through the grieving process, causes regression every time you suffer a loss. This means that the psychic wound never gets healed and every significant loss goes all the way back to the first time that you lost something or somebody that you could not replace, and you repressed it instead of worked your way through it.

From that point forward, everytime you lose something dear, the psychic would goes all the way back to the unresolved loss.

This story idea is a good one. We should all participate and we should have an organizer.

My own story for Bboy got him through the loss but not to the part about being embarrassed upon returning home. So, I, too, failed to finish the story.

For that, I shall always feel regret, but alas, there is little that I can do now for Bboy.

You know, when you think about it, death is no big thing for those who die, it is us that go on who are suffering now.

SO, friends, work your way through this one. DO not be afraid to cry. Do whatever you have to do to make it through this hard time. Your reward shall be a dulling of the psychic pain and a lessening of the large empty space that the death of a loved one always leaves, in time.

Is the story you are referring to "Carmen and me" or some other story? If it is another story, is it available somewhere?

If I remember correctly, in the story scenario that Bboy described, two boys were on a beach at the climax of the story, when one was told that he would have to undergo penectomy. To me, this suggests some possibilities for the literary structure of the story. I don't know if a literary scaffolding would interfere with the impact of the story or not, but here are some ideas on the potential for the project.

Beaches are, obviously, boundary areas, between the land and the sea, and Bboy may have, either consciously or unconsciously, set his story in an area of that kind, to emphasize the fact that penectomy would be a demarcation line in someone's life. Possibly the story could be centered on the theme that a series of events leads to the beach--i.e., to the verge of penectomy--and that this is a metaphor for something larger, perhaps the desire for freedom from something. Since we now know that BBoy would never realize his desires in this area, perhaps the beach could also, in some way, symbolize the boundary between life and death.

I don't know if the male organ could be treated in a way that identified it as a negative thing, or if it would be better, simply to use it to represent the fact that it has both good and bad aspects--that is to say, that it is good in some ways and in some situations, perhaps inappropriate in others. I would think that a good theme for plot development would be to develop a kind of dual attitude toward the organ--that the penectomy represents a loss of one thing, but perhaps represents the attainment of freedom in others.

in this area, are aware that the Osiris myth, which is based on the theme of penis amputation, has some literary and symbolic elements. Maybe those could be used in some way.

Literary writers have told me that producing literary fiction is largely a matter of writing up a good plot and developing strong characters, and then looking for ways to invest the story with more meaning than is contained in the plot elements. Don't know if that's difficult, or if it just takes a lot of time.

I Called it Bboy's vacation penectomy part 1 and Bboy's Dream Vacation part 2 and 3... I am not sure qhy it has 2 different names...

It is unfinished...
