Classification of stories...

I've come across a number of stories in the Archive, as well as new stories that are classified incorrectly, and thought I would bring it to everybody's attention.

For example, I've seen quite a few that were classified as Straight [S], but were male on male stories. It doesn't bother me to read such stories, but it makes it difficult to reach the people you probably want to read your story (I'm assuming M&M stories are written for gay men) when the story is mislabeled.

Thank you for listening to me bitch. :)

Thanks for the comments ... the authors themselves choose the classifications. I have no idea why they would mis-identify them ... 🙋

As much as I try to keep a close tab on this, you'd not believe the number of morons who can't relate "S" to man/woman and "G" to man/man or woman/woman. It's very possible that I slip up now and then. Lately, there's also a flock of them coming in under "F" just because the heroine does the dirty work. That, and it can get confusing because of all the garbage that gets dumped into my bin by people who think they're being funny!

in fairness and understanding, some stories are a bit hard to classify. is it really a str8 story if one of the charactors is heterosexual and the other is asexual. just a thought. But man on man is definently easier to understand as not str8. i do have great sympathy for you paolo you do have a hard job.

Would there be any value in catagorizing stories, not as (G)ay os (S)traight, but rather use MM for adult male on adult male, MF for adult male on Adult female, Mm as adult male on juvenile male, Mf adult male on juvenile female etc... Its a system that works fairly well on another story site that I visit. Perhaps it would work here as well, although re-reading and classifying all those stories would be a daunting task....

Luke,

That would involve a LOT of code rewriting, and also going back into old stories that currently won't "react" to the code running now. In short, that's impossible.

And wow, this IS an old thread!
