Announcement & Request

Those of you who have been around the Archive for a while know that Im a retired academic as if academics ever retired. I spent 30 years at the university teaching, administrating, researching and writing. You may also know that I arrived at the Archive seeking to understand one of the best students I had worked with in my career. What I have found here is an incredibly diverse group of fascinating people. I am continually amazed at the caring nature of the conversations that are held and of the advice that is given. I consider many of you friends and have met nearly a dozen face-to-face and correspond and/or talk on the telephone with others as well.
After a great deal of thought, I have decided that I would like to research and write about the Eunuch Archive. I think that an accurate and sympathetic book is needed to explain to the outside world what this community is all about. The book would be scholarly and not one to be found in your local Borders or Barnes & Noble, but rather in university libraries. There would be absolutely no sensationalism.
I will ONLY work on such a book if there is no objection from any of the regular participants here. Since the Archive is open to anyone who cares to join, I wouldnt doubt that there is someone already gathering data on us. I propose to do it openly and would certainly seek approval from anyone whose words I used.
I would also NOT write anything that could be traced to any identifiable individual. Privacy would need to be absolutely respected.
As an extension of the work I have done on the Nonfiction Board, I already have begun research for a scholarly history of human castration from Sumer to the present. That work will continue regardless of any decision on a book about the Eunuch Archive itself.
Please let me know your feelings about such an enterprise, either with comments on this thread or through Personal Messages. As I said, I will NOT do any such research or writing without approval of those who participate here.
