I know the scrotum is needed to make female parts, but why would anyone else want it, does anyone know?

It is not really needed, of course. But simple orchiectomy is easeir than scrotal removal. Also, perhaps one might "look" normal after castration if the scrotum were still there.

However, mine shrivelled up quite a bit, making it obvious. I did not want to keep it, but my surgeon, Dr. Suporn, refuses to perform SRS (the sex change) if the scrotum is removed. My outer labia and a lot of the vaginal wall came from scrotal tissue.

The SRS was two years, one week ago. :D

Hugs,

Kelly :)

Congratulations Kelly on being successful in achieving your goal. Has life as a girl been been all that you had hoped for?

Thanks, Mac and luvpain.

It is better than the alternative. :D

It is just so nice to be rid of the wrong plumbing--after the surgery, it just feels normal and comfortable. Now, no one needs to know what is in your panties, but the surgery does also increase your self esteem and allow legal records to be changed, so that a more normal life can be led.

Back to the original question, my guess is that many who do have the castration would opt for scrotal removal, and that is why The Philadelphia Gender Clinic offers this as an option (at extra cost). But I do not know of too many other doctors that offer this.

Hugs,

Kelly :)
