So Long for a While, and Thanks to All

Most of you have seen the info regarding Doug Lenhart here in Pittsburgh, and his recent arrest for a botched castration. As I mentioned in another post, I met with him in person last spring, and we chatted long enough for me to realize he was an educated person. However, when he said that he used over the counter pain meds and alcohol for pain control, I knew he was not someone I would trust my health to.
Local news outlets have said that the authorities are conducting an ongoing investigation of Lenhart's past activities. Since it's quite possible that he has my phone and email info somewhere, I'm a bit concerned that I might receive a call from someone looking into his past, especially since I live just a few miles from where Lenhart was arrested. Accordingly, I've decided to take a "vacation" from the Archive for a while, until things blow over.
Let me thank all of you who have been so helpful this past year or so, especially during my month's adventure on Androcur.

Best wishes to all of you until I decide "the coast is clear" and stop back in.
Anyone wishing to Email me can still do so at maxpgh@yahoo.com.
Good luck to you all. Stay away from cutters !
Terry

Terry, even if they do contact you there shouldn't be anything to worry about.
I was at the one in Detroit back in June 2002, and even though I was the one that called 911 to make sure Don got the help he needed, I was never bothered by the police until a few weeks before the trial in April this year.
The Authorities were definitely out of it since they did not want to know the facts of that night. I had one call from the police when I got home asking me to call back and give out more information. When I called back after calming down from the events of that night they told me they didn't need my help and had all the information needed.
All you have done is contact a potential cutter, there is nothing wrong with that as far as I know.

Terry,
I agree with luvpain on this 100%. Unless you are/were involved in the actual event itself, you have nothing to worry about. Talking with this person does not make you a criminal.
I do hope you stick around, it would be a shame for you to miss out on this wonderful site.

thanks for your kind thoughts and advice. i agree that i've done nothing at all to put myself in any kind of jeopardy; however, the media is having a field day with this, and i'm sure i would rather not have someone contact me to see what i know about lenhart's activities. so just for the time being, i'm going to take a little hiatus.
in keeping with the news media's amazingly short attention span, the current big story currently is a chopped-up body found in a woman's freezer in Erie.
again, thanks, and i'll be back before long at all.

p.s. luvpain, if you're feeling blue, email me and we'll talk !!

Terry, I totally understand your feelings just now. I've seen no coverage of this
event in England (there may or may not have been some) but I am aware you must feel worried by local media and any other attention.
Whilst there are good journalists out there, there are papers who exist everyday
and TV stations who like a "juicy news story" which they can over sensationalise as much as possible. Even the tone of voice delivery can express indignation! You have other hobbies you can enjoy softly until you
feel less "threatened" by whatever is going on or being printed in the press.
I wish you peace and calm and I'm glad your common sense and Guardian Angel
looked after you when you made your assessment.
You know you can contact me anytime; please keep my e-mail address on your
PC, I'm proud it's there - friendship isn't illegal, yet. Take care, take time, realise you have good friends out here.

Terry--
The police are usually reasonable if they can see that you're only peripheral to the events during which a felony occurred.
However, if things get intense, remember that you don't have to answer questions which the police ask, and whatever you say could be used against you. Don't lie to them, as it is too easy for them to find out that you aren't squaring with them.
Some lawyers recommend that, if you're questioned by the police about a felony, ask them to give you written questions, to which you will provide written answers. This is time consuming, but it gives you time to frame your answers, and keeps them from playing gotcha with you.
Good luck, and hope you get back on the archive soon.

O.K. Everyone--
If you are not personally involved in the illegal activity, you have no reason to speak with police without a court order to do so. At least it's that way in the US. Why do the police want to talk to you? Probably because they "got nuthin" on the person they are trying to prosecute. They need your help to prosecute someone. You don't have to help them unless they get a court to mandate it.
Regardless, if they contact you, you have to right to tell them you will not speak to them without an attorney present. If you tell them that, they have to stop their questioning. I agree that you should ask for the questions in writing, this makes them have to give them to you ahead of time so they cannot put you on the spot in a verbal Q&A session. They hand you written questions, you can also hand them to an attorney representing yourself.
There are options... and it is not illegal to lurk in the message boards or even post here. I hope you stick around.
Good luck!
