According to transgender care:
"Finasteride : 6 mg Propecia (divided, morning and evening) or 5mg Proscar in the morning."
Is this sufficient for individuals seeking chemical castration?

Probably no - as far as I know it only reduces DHT, not testosterone. But wait for someone more knowledgeable to answer.

You can find plenty of informations on line about Finasteride, Propecia and its natural version Saw palmetto (this one acts just like Finasteride). There are many men who complained of losing their potency after using Propecia (finasteride 1mg), Finasteride is commonly used to treat BPH (finasteride 5mg) and PC (10mg). Finasteride is known as an anti androgen and not only a DHT blocker. If 1mg is enough to create impotence in some men, imagine what 5 or 10 mg can do. I've used Saw Palmetto during 8 years none stop and I can assure you that I was completely impotent. I quitted because I had all the known castration side effects. It all depends of how much anti androgen you take to achieve your goal. In the case of Saw Palmetto it is necessary to use at least 1500mg and if this doesn't work you can take up to 2900mg. Within a month you'll notice the effects. Four months after quitting saw Palmetto, my T level remained to 100 (3,5) castration level is between 20-50 (1-2) while normal T level is 375 (13) or more. Then my doctor put me on TRT. The advantage of Saw Palmetto is its price at 1500mg a day this will cost about $10 a month. Saw Palmetto is also known to stop hair lost.

For a natural DHT blocker, pumpkin seed oil works much better than saw palmetto. As far as prescription mess, dutusteride is far more effective than finasteride but also more expensive.
