A fraternity that claims the title as the "nation's oldest local fraternity" will never again be recognized by Wilmington College in Ohio.
Gamma Phi Gamma was permanently derecognized by Wilmington due to a hazing incident in October that sent a pledge to the emergency room, where he required surgery to remove a testicle. According to Wilmington police, pledges were made to imitate swimming in three inches of water at the frat house, while they were "struck with towels and shirts that had the ends balled in knots or items tied inside to inflict pain," the the Dayton Daily News reports.
The fraternity appealed a judicial board ruling permanently revoking Gamma Phi Gamma's recognition by the college, but the sanction was upheld. The frat can make a final appeal to the college president, but it has not indicated whether it plans to do so, WLWT reports.
Gamma Phi Gamma was first established at the college in 1907. It was suspended for a hazing incident in 2000, the Gallipolis Daily Tribune notes.
Clinton County prosecutors are still considering criminal charges.
According to research from Hank Nuwer at Franklin College, there have been at least 104 hazing-related deaths since 1970. Bloomberg News has counted at least 60 hazing deaths since 2005.

Now that's a house of fools. I do hope they get thrown out and disbanded. It will serve them right.

The best statement that can be made is to expel the students, loss of tuition, scholarships, etc. I do agree to kill the frat house. This will send the message not only to that school but to all schools.

The misplaced testicle is one thing, but these kids are seriously misguided.

When one of my nephews was in jr. hi. some years ago, they had a problem with the "bag tag" game going on.
One of his friends was hit hard enough to burst a testicle, had to be removed. He was out of school for like two weeks.
Of course, the idiot school corporation then tried to expel him for missing too many days...
When he got back, damned if someone didn't try to do it again.
Needless to say, lawsuits ensued.
I informed the principal that if my nephew complained of this again, I would be at the school with a gun, to shoot him. In the balls. With rocksalt.
(Keep in mind, the county sheriff wanted to shoot him, too!)
After a few expulsions, the problem was solved.

I think that this hazing stuff is stupid, similar to having one's identity tied into some group that exact a toll for membership that is not worth the price that they charge.
Felony assault charges are in order. It seems like I recently watched an episode of CSI Miami where the "hazed one" permanently scarred (physically AND mentally) came back to a reunion and killed his tormenter.
Unfortunately, he did not get away with it.

Seems like too many schools treat hazing and bullying as a "boys will be boys" thing and sweep it under the rug. Assault is assault, no matter who does it to whom, if it involves minors. For adults who choose to be hazed as the price of admission to some exclusive group, I have less sympathy, especially if the group has a track record for going overboard. An adult should at least be able to evaluate whether admission is worth taking the risk of permanent bodily injury. Kids generally don't have a lot of common sense about such things, and most teenage boys seem to think youth makes them Superman.

Losing one testicle does nothing.. The second testicle kicks in and makes up for the loss. So this boy still has plenty of T.. Yeah, this frat friends should be hung by their tongues.. But he can still make his quiver full of babies. P.S. Guys a quiver holds 5 arrows.. 5 children and a mother and a father makes the quantity 7 and seven is the number of completion or perfection. HaHa.. Thought you would all like that. I try to make a funny.

The solution for any college or university is to put down a rule -- physical hazing like this won't be tolerated. If a frat sends a pledge to a hospital (or lets the underage drink) then the chapter is disbanded and banished from campus.
However, since graduates with any membership in some student organization give more than other alumni, universities and colleges listen pander to alumni donors and look the other way. Dorm rats do not give big bucks to alumni associations. Sometimes it happens because the chapter's behavior is so egregious and so outrageous that even the alumni can't object but that is not as often as frat houses get away with hazing.
The one sure way to stop physical hazing is for pledges to walk away.
