Passwords, Changes, Your Support, and Maundering On

Recently, as you may be aware, the Eunuch Archives was hacked and malicious code invaded us. Much of the code has been deleted, and our forums and stories were saved, but there is still a great deal of recovery & rebuilding work going on. However, the password files were compromised. We encourage everyone to change their password. I have received several emails with password issues, all of which were cleared up by a change. We are not kidding – change your password.

One of the things we have done in recovering is to start to virtualize our server. This required a change in the nature of our “box” and required a change in service, at greater cost. It also required new software to run the server, at significant cost. It also allowed us to upgrade vBulletin at the same time. We are in process of upgrading vBulletin to version 5.0. Sometime in the next few weeks, version 5 will appear – there may be some adjusting needed, but you’ll get used to it pretty quick (I’ve been playing around with it and it is fine.)

I’m sure you all share the notion that we would like the EA to remain where it is at, and has done so through many alterations, progressions, software changes, etc. We like to think sometimes that everything that can be discussed has been over the past 15 or so years, but new people are coming along and discovering us and needing information. We are a resource that must stay here and remain viable. That makes this place a valuable resource. Despite setbacks and problems, we keep coming back as strong as ever, all with your continued support, on the boards and with a few dollars here and there.

Please continue to support this site by reading, posting, contributing and reading stories, using the chat, and with your dollars, euros, pounds, pesos, and so on. The recent service and software changes have set this place back a total of nearly $US800. That is about 8 months worth of staying online paying for the server and such. We have received donations over the last several years ranging from $5 to $400, most averaging $10. When many of our supporters send even $5 each, that adds up quickly, and keeps the lights on here. We encourage you to contribute the same as several have recently. Each has contributed what they can afford. That is always generous, and we are grateful. If you have contributed in the past, consider renewing and doing so again.

You can send checks, money orders, and discretely wrapped cash to:

PO Box closed. Please PM Kristoff to mail donations.

You may also contribute via Paypal – you don’t even have to be a member to do so. Our email is

WyrmWyvern @ live.com

That is all the address you need on Paypal to contribute.

Thank you to all for your continued membership at and support of the Eunuch Archive

Hello Kristoff

Thanks for all your hard work. I just sent $25 via PayPal. Sorry it couldn't be more but that's the best I can manage just now.

All good wishes.

I noticed the hacking of the site when I came here the night it happened, at about 3:00 am, and saw the graffiti left on the front page. It scared the holy shit out of me. Ran a scan of my system immediately, all was well, so I crossed my fingers and hoped for the best for the site.

To my amazement, the site was back to normal the VERY NEXT DAY, and nary a mention of the disaster on the forums except a note from Paolo to change passwords, which I did right away.

KUDOS to the crew that manages this place. I was stunned to see such seamless repair. I imagine Talula and Kristoff had a lot to do with the recovery; Sirs, you are Gods.

Virtualising will enable snapshots to be taken so that reversion to a functioning site can be very quick. I have for example cloned a virtual machine, shut the offending VM down brought on the clone and then mounted the drive if the damaged VM and copied the data across to the clone. There are many amazing features in the virtual world. I still can't clone myself though!

I looked in the mailbox today and found two letters. One was from Woggler58 and the other was from Jesus. Both made very generous contributions, and they are what keeps this place "on the air," as all of you do. I would point out that Jesus has been a repeat supporter, as I encourage all those who have supported us in the past to become. If my memory serves me right, Woggler is a repeat supporter too. While giving thanks to these guys, we need always remember the guy who gave what he could afford when he could. All are always much appreciated.

We need to thank Jesus for second very generous contribution. In light of our recent significant server and software expenses, he decided to make a second contribution to the Archive. We owe him our thanks!
