It's not about how long you'll live, it's about what kind of life you're going to have. I read; A bit about your desire, in your profile, well castration would certainly bring calmness and lower your libido but won't iliminate it. That'd be cool but castration will bring a whole lot of side effects, they may take years to set in but they will certainly affect you sooner or later. Most eunuchs member here are on testosterone therapy to counter castration effects. Unless a boy has been castrated before puberty very few men will support the lack of testosterone. Castration diminish men physically, mentally and emotionally, a castrated man not on TRT will experience sooner or later a lack of concentration, memory lost, lack of energy, arthritis pain, weight gain, diabetis just to name a few and each of those side effects will lead you toward depression. We all have our own reasons to seek castration and most come from fantazy, the reallity is something else. This will probably not stop you from seeking castration but beware, castration come as a package and the side effects weigh more than the benefits. So think twice before to do something that you might regret later. I suggest you to go the chat room and chat with the castrated men that have been castrated for many years and not on hormones therapy, you may change your mind. I'm a chemical eunuch and this is irrevervable and like many others here, I am on TRT too.

Many years ago, it was reported in the medical literature I studied that testosterone raises basal metabolic rate by about ten percent; female hormones raise metabolic rate by about 5 percent. Allowing for menopause in women effectively stopping female hormones, the difference in basal metabolic rate between typical men and typical women could account for the difference in typical life span for men and women whose lives are otherwise very similar.

However, asking about "a man," meaning one specified particular individual man, makes the question profoundly dependent upon the circumstances of the particular man.

In a much similar way, there is no "average guy" whose happiness can be compared with castrated men, and that is because castrated men are all unique individuals, having unique life experiences that will likely affect happiness much more than castration alonw will.

To illustrate, my castration was done to reduce my likelihood of dying from cancer, as did my dad and older brother, from cancer related to a rare genetic condition for which the average age of death, without drastic surgeries, is reported as 42 years. Without my colon and testicles, I have lived very nearly 50% longer than my older brother lived.

I tend to regard treating castrated men as a homogeneous group, such that the questions raised could be meaningful, as a form of serious misunderstanding of human biology.

Histrionically yes, but Eunuchs were genially not working in dangerous jobs (mining, army, etc). Eunuchs are more like women they statically life longer than men. But the longevity is more dependent on life choices and genetics.
