Dear Lord,

I know that I don't talk to you that much, but this year you have taken away:

my favorite screenwriter Nora Ephron,

my favorite visionary Steve Jobs,

my favorite author Ray Bradbury,

my favorite childrens' author Maurice Sendak,

my favorite American Bandstand guy Dick Clark,

my favorite hairdresser Vidal Sassoon,

my favorite musician Earl Scruggs,

my favorite Monkee Davy Jones,

my favorite 60 Minutes guy Mike Wallace,

and my favorite singer Whitney Houston.

I just wanted to let you know

that my favorite radio announcer is Rush Limbaugh.

Amen.

River, if it happens it will not be God doing it. You can take it from there.

This whole subject, joke or not, is in terribly bad taste. How truly bad it is only gets magnified after the shooting in Aurora Colorado...

It would be the correct thing IMHO to delete the whole thread or at least lock it out...DELETE would be better though.

I remember the threads where some of us were upset that there were people praying for the President's death every day.

We are better than this.

I totally disagree, Wolf-Pup, and this kind of (over-) reaction reminds me of what political correctness can lead to.

The original post's joke, if read as the writer inteded, respectfully and with lamentation mentions some favorite performers who have unfortunately died in the past year, and then does a left-turn of a punchline by twisting the emotion by humorously 'requesting' the death of a fatheaded ass who contributes to the dumbing-down of the United State's population.

"We" are not 'better' than this; to my mind, it's a cute joke that most people would see the humor in.

It seems you may be trying to bring shame on those who 'see the funny' in it by basically accusing us of laughing at the Auorora theater-massacre; this is the only thing in this thread that I find in bad taste.

As the Irish song goes. "Just prayed to a God thai I don't believe in."

I loved the joke!
