Contraband

I went to see the movie Contraband today. It is fast paced and has enough of a plot to keep one wondering what will happen next. I sat with my legs crossed because I had to pee but didn't want to miss anything (too much information?) while I went to the restroom. It was a movie in which, if one did go to the restroom, one would miss something. Plenty of action; I lost count of how many people were killed. It's not an Oscar winner, but it is entertaining.

I saw it tonight as well. Reasonably entertaining. Stuffed with numerous implausibilities, if you stop to think about it, which I suppose you're not. A fantasy of crime that pays.

Don't you guys get cable?
A 60" Sharp LED/LCD is only $1,400. Get the non reflective screen. It can also work off your computer.
And you don't have to share winter viruses in a closes air system to watch a movie.
The last time I went to a theater was for "The Fellowship of the Ring". Wife and I were physically ill for four hours after from noise trauma. It was a big deluxe theater too.
The other thing is I don't sit still well so I can't imagine sitting still in a theater these day. I rarely watch a new movie beginning to end. Get it in disorderly pieces and put it together. So I read your theater experiences and wonder at it all. What is the tab for movie nite?
Wait for it to come on cable

What happened to all those pirate online sites? Gone?

I never use a pirate site to see a movie. I can always wait for it to come on cable or DVD or whatever.
There are a few movies I really want to see in theaters but if I don't, it's like so what. I'll live and the sun will rise again.
Sorry to put this in the CONTRABAND thread. I like Wahlberg and his movies but they aren't theater material.
I needed a movie to keep me awake last night because I had to do something personal and physical that kept me up late and so I turned on UNSTOPPABLE about the runaway train and let it boom, bang and crash away.
I once invested in a video store and that is one reason I never go to pirate sites or cheapo downloads. To watch a full length movie on my computer (the big macbook pro) hurts my eyes. Too small, lousy sound (I have Bose speakers for sound on my TV)

If one weren't able to suspend disbelief, one couldn't enjoy many movies these days. Certainly, I found some of those moments in this movie, but they weren't as bad as they were in the last Fast and Furious movie for instance. They were so bad in that movie that I almost walked out of it and certainly won't go to another of them.
To answer moi about the theater experience, I enjoy it. I like watching people; I like watching a movie on a big screen; I like 3D movies; I like the whole movie, popcorn, experience, for which I pay a little less than $20 for movie, popcorn, and a coke.

I subscribe to Netflix. They have many thousands of movies, either DVD or streaming to your computer. I use excellent headphones (only $9 at Walmart!), so the sound is fine.
For those things that Netflix doesn't have, I will sometimes buy from iTunes (less than a theater) or use a BitTorrent client to get something free from another user.
Still, I enjoy going to the theater - getting out, being in an audience, seeing movies on the big screen. It's a different and better experience than home viewing.

A local guy went to the movie last week. He apparently couldn't hold it so he took
a break and went to the bathroom where he had a heart attack and died. They didn't
find him for 5 days. Apparently that theatre doesn't clean the bathrooms too often.
