GOOD TV Surprises

This is about, Good TV Surprises.

Not the failures like Playboy Club or wait listed PAN AM. Either should have been good period pieces ala Mad Men, esp. with the public interest in that period now.

This thread is about the enjoyable surprises of the new TV Season still unfolding.

Here is my list. Please share yours beyond, the latest Survivor.

American Horror Story on Fx. It is on several times a week and is by the creators of Lost I believe. As tangential plus, Jessica Lange.

MTV2, around 10PM, Friday, Lingerie Football.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8kIwH-GX ... re=related moving video. Remember I do not like watching TV sports. BUT, this is rapid fire play after play so by the second watching I got involved with the sport. These ladies play mostly unpadded, and rough. No squealing mud wrestlers.

Not everyone is wild about, Terra Nova but I do believe they are trying to develop

substantive characters and not just relying on Spielberg's CGI to bring the audience back. The CGI seems good too and not gratuitously or over done.

Seen any new "good" TV this season?

Moi

There is

Good TV

Maintenance TV and

Background TV in my world. :-|

I wonder 💡 ;) how NBC's Grimm is going to fare, starts 10/28.

I haven't watched AMERICAN HORROR STORY so I won't comment.

However, TERRA NOVA bored me for the episode I tried to watch.

My "Xfinity On Demand" has a 20 minute teaser for GRIMM and I like it. It was predictable in that it was all back story and setup but the action was there and the acting was good enough for TV.

I liked the new episode of American Horror Story, weds and repeated. FX channel

It must be from the "Lost" people. And therefore may be hard to come in, in the middle.

Highly, highly recommended. I think they are repeating all three episodes at some time soon at a bad hour.

Friday night, 10PM Lingerie Football. 👅 By the third game a non sports watcher like me might be drawn into the sport of it too.

Subugatory is the best 30 minute comedy I have seen for a long time.

No good TV this season for the members?

One of the producers of American Horror Story was also a producer of Nip/Tuck.

Is American Horror Story supposed to be a comedy?

Like Lost and Nip/Tuck, American Horror Story has so many twists and turns you are always learning. And just when you think you haves something figured out, they add a new dimension.

The house maid appears young and seductive to the husband and an old lady blind in one eye to the wife. Some burn scarred guy keeps appearing threatening the husband for money. And back flashes to previous owners of the house. Twists and turns abound. And Jessica Lange. And a very, very high functioning Down Syndrome actress. May not be Down's but, just look Down's. Or a mosaic, some cells yes, some cells no might account for her talent, mood and ability to deliver believable lines in it all.

And please remember, Friday around 10PM, MTV2 Lingerie Football - considering all the various flavors on this Board, watch it and then tell me "it ain't good."

American Horror Story is definitely better then the predictability and CGI of Grimm.

Last night's Lingerie Football was too one sided. Also it appears the players are a little bit more covered. :(

Watching Futurama

very quickly at the end of the lead in credits it states,

"filmed in hypno-vison"

Good tube (oops, flatscreen) joke.
