I like how the spokesperson says that it is a common occurrence:

Firefighters called out to cut metal ring off penis

July 25, 2011 5:00 PM

Firefighters have heavy-duty cutting equipment which is used to cut people out of car crashesÂ… but hopefully they didn't need to use them on this occasion.

A rescue team in Australia were recently dispatched to save a rather distressed man who had got his penis trapped in a metal ring.

The truck from Melbourne was called out at around 2.30am when the man called emergency services and told them of his embarrassing predicament.

While it's not known exactly how they removed the man's appendage from the ringÂ… we'd have thought if they'd charged in with the 'jaws of life' it might have scared him out of it.

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Fire and Emergency Services Board said getting called out to a red-face man with his willy trapped in something was far more common than most people would suspect.

And, it shows up in the medical literature fairly often. Often with rather graphic photos.

I wonder how often it shows up on the local TV news? I hope this wasn't one of our Melbourne members' member....
