Shock and Horror!
"V" has been canceled by ABC. How dumb can they be not to realize it's "repeat" value?
Ever since CBS canceled their flag ship program to opt for a new direction, "Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman", I have lost faith in network series and investing any interest in them. Dr. Mike can be seen daily on several Christian networks on my cable system.
Another outstanding example of "canceled stupidity" was HBO and Deadwood. But, HBO is less prone to such stupidity and does produce the best series with conclusions as any production company. Thinking of, "Rome".
We have been forewarned, two more seasons of Mad Men, for now or forever.
Share any CANCELED complaint?

I didn't like V much. I like the original, and I thought I was going to like the remake. I didn't.
I liked the casting, I liked the special effects, but I just didn't like the story of the new V. It seemed to be taking too long for the people of Earth to realize what was happening. What little resistance there was, was not compelling. I kept waiting for the war to start, and for humanity to start to stand up.
I just felt like the writers didn't include a reason to root for the humans. All the humans seemed incompetent and lazy. Darn-it, I was beginning to root for the Visitors. That is just wrong.
Now Stargate: Universe. That was a loss I felt. I really identified with the characters and story-line. It was very different from the previous Stargate series, but that was a good thing.
I was also getting into No Ordinary Family. It was a bit schlock, but somehow I didn't mind. I kept thinking of the opening of The Incredibles, and enjoyed the family dynamic of everyone having superpowers, and trying to keep it secret from the world.
The Cape was another cool show that had some potential, and was cut off too soon. Once again, a cheesy superhero premise, but I guess I like superheros.
The biggest letdown for me was learning that In Treatment will not be renewed. Each episode was a look into a troubled mind. It was personal and often heartbreaking. Each episode was told with only two people sitting across from each other, talking. That was it. No car chase scenes, no gunfire. No-one leaping from building to building. It was simple raw emotion on display, and good grief I liked it.
This has been a bad couple of years for quality TV. 82 shows have been cancelled so far. Check out this list

Pretty sad when you read all that we've lost to make room for more shows like Dancing with the Stars. Excuse me for a bit, I need to go grieve.

And Wonder Woman got dropped before she had a chance
I like V. I liked the idea of bringing back Jane Badler and Marc Singer in the last episode seen.
I liked "the Bliss" concept and Anna's half human adopted daughter enabled Anna to spread Bliss through humanity without having a stroke. Looks like we will never know if we got conquered or beat them back again.

I absolutely have to agree here. If the resistance group we were shown was the best that we were capable of, sign me up for the other side. The biggest loss is no longer getting to see Morena Baccarin on screen.

Again, I agree. The writers were really starting to settle in, the reset button was being used less, and fewer characters were stuck carrying the idiot ball. Of all the cancellations mentioned here, this is the one I regret the most.

No Ordinary Family was cute, fairly light, and had a good balance. Sure, the writing wasn't necessarily the best, and there was a reasonably high cheese factor, but come on, there's gotta be some room out there for something between high-minded dramas and reality TV.
As for The Cape, the show was pure cheese. I mean that in a good way, though. Right from the start, you could tell that this show really wasn't going to last that long. Unfortunately there aren't enough people who understand the value of watching a show that doesn't really take anything seriously, and strives to be a modern B-movie.

To be fair, there's a good number on that list that I would hesitate to call 'quality'. And yet, I would watch just about any of them over a reality TV show.

What else is new, it cost money to put on a weekly show, and lots of it, a reality show costs next to nothing. Like news shows, the set is set, what else do you need.
I stopped watching TV for just this reason, you start to like a show then it gets the axe, there have been some very good shows out there but in today's market the days of good programming is over. Even the soaps are being axed for reality court. The only shows that seem to last are cop and doctor shows, BORING. I mean just how many times do you think it takes for people to realize that a car going down the street and hits a car does not flip and explode.
A show from a few years ago, I don't even remember the name of it but it had a woman president who came to power when the president died, a very good show well written canceled before it got through the second season.
Sara Connor Chronicles another one, its doing well it cost lots of money lets move it, yea, that will kill it, it did.

About the only two network shows I like this season are The Event and Blue Bloods, and I understand The Event is being canceled. I hope, at least, this season of it comes to some conclusion. I stream Netflix to my TV, which I think gives me more options than most movie channels.

I'm still pissed off with HBO for killing first Carnivale, then Deadwood. Apparently, HBO didn't perform adequate due diligence before signing on for Carnivale, and lawsuits over theft of intellectual property (ref. "Beulah") brought it to an unfortunate early demise.

I am about two to three months behind in watching the over-the-air programs I have recorded. I was very disappointed with the last two The Event episodes I watched.
When the president learned that the aliens were going to attempt to teleport the fuel rods from the San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station and that the teleportation technology could be disrupted by magnetic fields, why didn't he order all the nuclear power plants be equipped with magnetic fields, instead of moving the fuel rods?
The security for the truck carrying the fuel rods was ridiculously inadequate. All they had was two unarmored SUV's. I think the absolute minimum should have been six armored Humvee or Stryker vehicles, at least two with mounted machine guns. Plus at least one Apache Longbow attack helicopter.
After the fuel rods were taken, they made no mention of trying to track the truck with satellite surveillance.
The aliens sent a message to their home world by RADIO. They got a response again by RADIO in less than a month. The nearest star to our sun is 4.3 light years away. It would take at least 8.6 years to get a reply by radio.

...
I must admit that I quit watching THE EVENT last year but I did tune into the final episode and not to spoil it for you but the last five or ten minutes is stretched out, badly cut and stupidly written... it is exciting. However, that drastic a plot twist really does end the story of THE EVENT.
If the end was actually "the event" that was hinted at in the title, one would wonder what the eff "FFFF" the story was supposed to be all along.
I have the feeling from the episodes I watched that the writers did not know what "the Event" was or that the management kept badgering the writers to come up with bigger and better things just to go one. Perhaps this should have been a 6 or 12 episode miniseries with better and sharper writing.
