I have Windows 7 installed. I am trying to remove an entire directoy using DOS commands through the command prompt. rmdir, rd, and deltree do not work to remove sub directories or full directories. Anyone got a clue How I can get this program gone? Program uninstall is also blocked by the same error that won't let me introduce a new version of the program or from using or removing the old one. sometimes quick books really sux. I figure just get it all out and start fresh

Windows 7 sets attributes on any directory beneath the "Program Files" directory, and the "trusted installer" service keeps them set, for the most part. If you change the detailed permissions on the QuickBooks top-level directory to allow "Full Control" for your user ID, you should be able to delete it.

And how do I do that? Dunno how to get into the program files. I can work my way into the directory from the c prompt but from there I cant open anything. I'm reading the "trusted installer" can be changed under the user accounts but i dont see where, and I am set as the owner of the system.

^-- This works for me. No matter how I changed the security privileges, Win7 was still saying I needed permission from myself to delete all this crap on an old hard drive. Using the 'Take ownership' thingie fixes that right quick.

Give this a try, open the command prompt in windows seven by going to the command under the all programs and accessories, and right click on it and use the run as option, this will allow you to use the Administrator account and that woull allow you to delete anything, as long as its not in use. or you may also be able to change any attribute. I would use the attrib - r -a -s -h .then you sould be able do rip it out by the roots. but be warned its dangerous to do things this way.

You need to download "Revo Uninstaller" I had the very same problem and then I ran "Eusing Free Registry Cleaner" all traces of that kept the installer from installing was gone. Both programs are free, but make sure you read every thing as they try to get you purchase the rest of the software suite.
