Starship Troopers 3

I barely remember Starship Troopers 2 and am fascinated at how many of us on Board appreciate Starship Troopers, the original.

Starship Troopers 3 states that anti war demonstrators are hanged and has Jolene Blalock with over sized lips.

It seems a good militaristic program always draws a crowd. And something about #1 and #3 seem well conceived. Not just bug juice.

I thought the first on stunk, I did not even know they tried to get it wrong again and again.

Then again I read the book.

You know for those of us who read books, when the movie comes out it usually dose not live up to the hip or the book.

Starship Troopers was one of these. You would have liked it, its was all about politics and who should be allowed to VOTE.

I know the movie covered that, NOT.

another one was Battle Field Earth, it was a great book, long long book, of course the movie only covered a small portion of it, and did it badly and got it wrong but.

Another movie that was bad, 'Clan of Cave Bear', great book, shitty movie. I am about half way through book 6 in the series, it just came out. 'The Land of Painted Caves' it is the last in the set.

I just tried watching "Starship Troopers 3" and I lasted about ten minutes. What a pathetic crock of garbage it turned out to be. Pure drivel whipped into a frenzy of aged horse shit and covered with a sauce of pig-slop. Har, Har, Har, Har... I can say worse things than this but I think y'all get the idea.

Starship Troopers as Heinlein wrote a cynical political satire about propagandists and tyrants. It was one whole heap of jingoistic satire that pointed up totalitarian governments. The original movie just didn't go there. It was Heinlein-lite, low calorie bubblegum for 13 year olds. Not that it was unwatchable. It had a naked Caspar Van Dien and although he was cute and humpy and I wouldn't throw him out of bed, he isn't the world's most attractive guy to me. The bugs were fun. The politics was missing.

Starship Troopers 2 wasted film. It was too low budget for special effects and sfi-fi dies without special effects.

Battlefield Earth... I'm afraid of my written opinion about this. It's pretty rank. Perhaps no other eyes should see it.

It was not as good as 1 and far better then 2 which I barely know existed.

There were some worthy SciFi gizmos, a singing commanding general and brain bugs that can do more stuff.

The character development was not as good although Jolene Blalock was an attraction.

Peter Jackson's creation of the Lord of the Rings was a worthy recreation from the books. Unfortunately the Scouring of the Shire, the last section was absent, (and I wish he could add it as it is a most important section of the story,) from the movie as well as the special flower of Loth Lorein, Elenor - later to become the name of Samwise daughter. Strider was as I water colored him decades before. Sometimes a good movie can be made from the book as to satisfy loyal book fans.

True Moi, but most of the time they are a hack job. Some movies get the idea of what the book was about out on the screen but most fall short, some change the words for special effects, Take Harry Potter movie 6 for example, two things stand out the beginning was totally wrong, and in the middle they burned down the burrow, neither happened in the book, but special effects were great, I would have liked it better if they would have stuck to the story as the original writer did a better job by far. This is true with most books that have been made into a movie, how many times can you drive a car down a street, hit another car from the rear and flip it and have it explode? When, I say WHEN have you ever seen that happen in real life??? When have you ever read that in a story???

Sorry, Harry Potter is a turn off for me, at least Peter Jackson stayed pretty true. I guess it helped to know the land of New Zealand.

Currently I am watching Game of Thrones on HBO. No one does a mini series better then HBO. Amazing how bad, down right adolescent Camelot is and the drone of the Borgias.

If there are any Game of Thrones fans out there, I would welcome the encyclopedic knowledge of the book reader before winter comes.

If you qualify, please start a Game of Thrones thread here as the series will be on for a while. And explain the erratic season timings.

Thanks
