The Pacific Northwest tree octopus (Octopus paxarbolis) can be found in the temperate rainforests of the Olympic Peninsula on the west coast of North America. Their habitat lies on the Eastern side of the Olympic mountain range, adjacent to Hood Canal. These solitary cephalopods reach an average size (measured from arm-tip to mantle-tip,) of 30-33 cm. Unlike most other cephalopods, tree octopuses are amphibious, spending only their early life and the period of their mating season in their ancestral aquatic environment. Because of the moistness of the rainforests and specialized skin adaptations, they are able to keep from becoming desiccated for prolonged periods of time, but given the chance they would prefer resting in pooled water. etc.

Then there was the report from Allstate that ones Astrological Sign may influence car accidents.

http://finance.yahoo.com/insurance/arti ... ance-autos

The insurance company's original press release claimed that Scorpios, who have a "perfectionist nature," were the safest drivers in 2010, because they were involved in only 26,833 accidents. Virgos on the other hand, which Allstate characterized as "worried and shy," were involved with 211,650 accidents, making them the worst offenders, according to the company.

I knew this was fake when they say Scorpios are the safest drivers!

I believe the Olympia Beer company, before it was bought out, was using these Tree Octopi as their "Artiesans", little buggers that made the water for the beer. never mind how...

Tree Octopus Awareness lives today

http://zapatopi.net/blog/?post=20100429 ... lpture_rac e

dated May 2010

"By the color and demeanor of the octopus, it looks as if they modeled it after Thujoctopus pilosa, not O. paxarbolis. Nevertheless, anything that raises awareness of arboreal cephalopods is certainly worthy of note."

This happened at

"The Baltimore Kinetic Sculpture Race is an annual event where Kinetinauts race amphibious, human-powered art-vehicles to victory and glory."

BTW

Are there any Snipe left in the Midwest? Or were they all bagged by indoctrinating new hunters?

How about Prairie Dog colonies on the wild prairies?
