Beavis and Butt-head are coming back to MTV.

The New York Post's Michael Starr reports that "Beavis and Butt-head" episodes are "in the works."

The show, which was a hallmark of '90s slacker culture, was canceled in 1997.

"The new series would keep Beavis and Butt-head in their perpetual high-school state, but it would be updated so that the pals -- who obsessively watch music videos on a battered TV set -- could lob their snarky comments at more current targets like Lady Gaga," the Post reports. "The show's minimalist animated style is also expected to remain intact."

I loved Beavis and Butthead, though since it was cancelled in 1997 and I'm now 13 years older, I may have a different view now.

Having worked in media and entertainment as long as I did, I managed to get rather jaded and cynical about the entertainment industry as a whole. You don't have to have talent to make it in entertainment anymore, you simply need to have whatever is considered good looks to whomever is making those decisions and they will use a computer to make you sing well or look better.

After all that is done, it is used to advertise to you. Today media (TV, radio, magazines, Internet) is nothing more than a vehicle for advertising.

No wonder I don't know what's on TV anymore. *shrugs*
