Spiro Trial

I have finally decided to do a trial with Spironolactone for at least two months. I feel my mind is at a sufficiently stable place and so are my finances and living conditions. I am taking a Testosterone test and then some spiro and after a month retest.

I have a few questions however. What dose? I was thinking 50mg for a start and gradually increase if need be but is that too low? I've noticed lots of people go for 100~200mg. I dont need to kill ALL testosterone but most of it. Also, how often should I get my liver and kidneys checked? And how slow have any of you noticed your hair growing?

Also, :dong:

Don't worry about Spiro killng off all your testosterone, it is a pretty weak antiandrogen but is inexpensive. It can be administered up to 400 mg/day when used in a prescribed manner for hypokalemia. Absorbtion is improved if taken with food. And earlier in the day is better if you don't want its diuretic effects when sleeping at night.

I took it for well over 2 1/2 years, 100 mg/day but with an injection of Depo Provera every 4 weeks. My testosterone level with that combination got down to just under 100 with normal being 280-1080. So I was very pleased with those results. If I had it to do again, I'd probably try the Depo Provera at 3 week intervals and forget the Spiro instead so I wouldn't have the diuretic effects but it wasn't that much of a hassle to get up at night and pee. At the end of my chemical castration adventure, I doubled the Spiro to 200/day for the last month and cut the Depo interval to every week more like is done with judicial offenders and my testosterone dropped to under-castrate level (under 50). I never was on just Spiro or just Depo Provera so can't say which worked better but my feeling is that the Spiro contributed less that the Depo Provera to lowering my T level.

Kidney and liver issues aren't a problem with Spiro but excess potassium is. Try to avoid eating things with potassium as Spiro tends to retain potassium.

Why not sit down with your GP and tell him/her what your doing so they can do things like suggest doses and monitor things like liver function etc. Its really safer and if they do labs you can be sure what your doing is working and more important safe!

I can only speak for myself but I don't understand why people always saying that it is a weak drug.

The week I started out on 100mg a day (split in 50mg dosages) I already had effects like softer erections, clearer and (sometimes) reduced ejaculate plus a very tight scrotum.

Shortly after I added Estrogen (Progynova) but I think that without the spiro the effects wouldn't be that noticeable as they are now.

I never did a test to check what my hormone-levels are but as long as I get the desired results it's not that important for me.

It's almost six month of hrt now and a lot has changed.
