Osteoporosis

Hello,
This is my first post in the Eunuch Archive.
First of all, I'm sorry about my English, I hope it would be at least understandable. As I can express myself better in Esperanto, Could I attach a translation above the text in English?
I have a strong desire to be free of testosterone. I have never liked the effects of testosterone (since I was a child), so I am trying to reduce the amount of this hormone in my body.
I'm finding an endocrinologist who would want to prescribe ciproterone acetate or any other antiandrogenic drug, but I have doubts about the effects of testosterone deprivation, especially about osteoporosis, as I don't want to be on testosterone at all, but also don't want to be on estrogens.
Is a small estrogen dose (not very feminizing) enough to avoid osteoporosis?
Is there another methods which don't involve the use of sexual hormones to avoid osteoporosis?
Thanks,
Esperantulo
PD: I will put a translation of this post into Esperanto; If this isn't permitted, I will edit the post in order to remove the translation.
Dankon,

Posts in most languages are OK, as long as we know what it is and are able to translate it with Google or Babel-Fish. Posting in English simultaneously is even better.
Welcome to the boards.

Welcome to the archive.
Taking 1500mg of calcium a day can help greatly preventing osteoporosis. Being active is also important to maintain strong bones.
Great that you are going to an endocrinologist. That should help you get the right amounts of the drug. Wish you all the best.

The good thing about osteoporosis or its precursor, osteopina, is that while there are no symptoms initially, it can be easily detected with bone density tests so you can stay ahead or at least on top of it. Since bone density is critically influenced by calcium, increasing your calcium intake to at least 1200 mg/day is essential and this should include vitamin D. If this proves insufficient, a low level of either testosterone or estrogen will improve the absorbtion of the calcium. If that still is inadequate, other meds are available. Osteoporosis is mainly thought of as a female condition but that certainly is not true.
After nearly 3 years of chemical castration before my surgery, I was diagnosed with very mild osteopina. My doctors then had me take the 1200 mg of calcium/w vitamin D and a very low dose of testosterone. He did say that I could do estrogen if I chose that but I went for the T. My testosterone level is still way below the lowest of normal values and is not enough to kindle my libido at all. After 7 months of that, I went to a free osteoporosis screening at a local hospital and saw my bone density improved well into the good range. The screening process was neat because it was done in the women's area of the hospital. The first 4 people to be screened were all male eunuchs. Of course the women doing the screening didn't know that but we got a charge out of it.

Even intact males are subject to osteoporosis and there are beginning to be more screening programs for older men. My hypermasculine grandfather had severe osteoporosis in his later years and died of the effects of a hip fracture that was a result of the osteoporosis. EVERY male over 65 should be screened; many at younger ages.

I developed osteoporosis just being on androcur for over 2 years. Had a bone scan done. Doctor put me on fosamax 70mg. With taking around 1500mg of calcium and vitamin D. Been 5 years on fosamax and last bone test done a few months ago I was back in the normal range. Think walking helped. I am on no HRT.

I have discovered that my new health care insurer does not cover bone density tests except when they are for females over the age of 65 - no exceptions for males of any age. My doctor (chief of internal medicine and of teaching at her clinic) tells me this is an increasingly common feature of medical insurance. --FLO--

I have ben taking calcium since I was on Chemical Castration.. I have been taking Fosamax since I was castrated..And my number right is -2. So even though you take the Fosamax and 1500 mg per day of Calcium Citrate, you still can have osteo.. It's all in your body composition.

My family fortunately have strong bones, I think I continued this line, but anyway, I will take Calcium complements to avoid osteoporosis, as you suggested.
The main problem with testosterone deprivation for me was to have to take any HRT to avoid bone problems, but if there is a way to avoid taking hormones, it's great!

Mia familio bonŝance havas fortan oston, do mi esperas ke mi ankaǔ havas oston tian.

Thank you very much,
