Wow! What a concept: Carnaval

It is now time for carnaval and as the countdown toward MardiGras and its abrupt end before Ash Wednesday begins you just have to think: Wow... What an amazing concept! To be able to get and squeeze all the fun out of life that you possibly can before midnight of one certain day (that is the fortieth day excluding Sundays before the first Sunday after the first full moon after the vernal equinox which is otherwise known as Easter to the western church). How did this concept ever come about? But more importantly you just can't help but wonder if our church fathers would have had any idea what an awesome concept they had come up with: To go ahead if you must and have whatever fun you can until that one certain time and then STOP!!! Actually their emphasis had been on the STOP part before the day of solemnity and they probably never ever realized just what a fantastic concept that they had actually helped come up with. Which with people being people later had to gradually be amended to go ahead and have ALL the fun you can before that one certain time. This just has to be one of mankind's major innovations if you just stop to think about it. I mean to have all the fun you can until...
Some places in US for some reason TRY to celebrate carnaval and MardiGras AFTER the fact of the day has passed but it just is NOT the same unless you have that certain day by when you're supposed to have had packed all the fun you could have into that little bottle so to speak. They miss the point and besides THEIR emphasis is on sex rather than the whole experience in its entirety of having as much fun as you can before midnight of that day.
Ash Wednesday is the day that the Pope and church fathers tell you, "Ashes to ashes and dust to dust. Remember that you are dust and unto dust you shall return." Then a solemn season was to begin before the day of Easter. But at the time they came up with that type of holy day they had no idea how it could enhance the excitement of all the days before it by: Having all the fun you can before Ash Wednesday. And so if you stop to think of it you just have to think, "Wow! What an amazing concept.
