On nights when the many channels on cable have - "nothing on"

And then there are those nights when the EA Board is just, dead.

What to do to fill the screen?

Free, Online movies and TV.

So let's share links here.

For starters, ovguide is the best search for finding links.

There are links beyond hulu and fancast.

Please, if you have a favorite link, and it is free, share it here.

Hulu is so slow it's useless anyway.

I don't find Hulu anymore problematic then any other free online video sites.

Certainly better then the links out of Asia.

When I have problems I place the player on, pause, and let it buffer up a few moments.

Usually, once is enough.

I watched the new Star Trek movie some months ago from links from this site.

On the other side of, time - this site has lots of golden oldies like the Jack Benny Show.

http://retrovision.tv/

I wish there was a good link for history stuff.

A really cute, not very BBC-ish experience with great music and a well regarded dance scene

12 minutes into the movie. Worth checking just for that.

I'm not so sure about surfthechannel there.

When I hit that site, all of my external drives came on, as did my flash stick.

I think it's got spyware in it, although the AVG suite didn't do a thing.

You can get almost anything for free through the big BitTorrent clients such as Vuze or uTorrent. It takes a bit of work and learning to get set up, but once you are, you can get pristine downloads of movies, TV, music, etc.

I run Firefox with AdBlock+ and NoScript as well. Does an amazing job of keeping the clutter down.

Don't know how they can get away with free access to movies now in theaters. Read that the NY Attorney General is starting criminal prosecutions of several of the biggest such sites. We'll see what happens.

As an evil criminal, I still prefer bittorrent downloads. Most of the downloads come from individuals, not companies, except for those that are obvious malware carriers.

I've found most of the free links to be rife with spyware, etc. If I use them, I always scan after, and often find several pieces of malware. Hulu and Fancast seem clean.

Go to sidereel.com to find lists of links, sometimes scores of links for popular shows. Just beware of downloading any free codecs, etc. These always come with malware.

Years ago, I used to download massive codec packs, so that I could play anything I came across on my computer. Then someone introduced me to "ffdshow tryouts."

Its a remarkably small pack, under 4.5mb, I have yet to find any spyware or malware in it, and once it's in you can play just about anything under the sun. It's now one of the first things I install on every computer I own, after a fresh install. (That, and a decent media player so I don't have to use the built-in Windows one.)
