Abuse suits target Mormons, Boy Scouts

SAN FRANCISCO — Three brothers who claim they were sexually molested by their Boy Scout and Mormon youth leader in the 1970s and 1980s have sued both organizations.

The suit filed in San Francisco Superior Court alleges that church officials in Sunnyvale ignored complaints of abuse from the three boys and failed to notify law enforcement.

The plaintiffs, identified in the suit only as John Does, say they were molested hundreds of times by the man.

The suit identifies the former scout and church leader as 65-year-old William E. Knox, a Georgia resident.

A law firm in Canton, Ga., contacted by The Associated Press, said it was no longer representing Knox. His phone number could not be located.

Well, as a recovering Catholic I can say that I, myself have never been sexually molested. However we did have a rather abusive sort of relationship with our superiors and I have had my ears pulled, knuckles whacked with the ruler (classic), slapped, glared at and so forth. And I was even the mild-mannered quiet one one too. Since those days I have talked with others who have gone through religious schooling too. One thing I can tell you for certain is that it certainly is not limited to the Catholic Church. It's the truth.
