I did some research on River and found, to my suprise, he was from Michigan originally and has a lupine background.

Here is an article on the real, fierce River we all know and love:

What was that OLD MAN, er A-1!

Now I know I am old, real old, you could say I am older then dirt. However let it be known BOTH, A-1 and MacWolf are centuries older then I am, I remember the last supper as I was there doing KP, I was a young one then but MacWolf and A-1 were old, very old. they were not there as they had retired years before.

And even in real life I am the young one :D

Well, the story says...

A mysterious, centuries-old Indian legend revealed startling parallels. A French fur trader's diary from 1794 told of an encounter with "loup garou." A letter from 1857 described a creature that stood upright like a man, yet "bore the countenance of a grey wolf."

...so naturally I thought that it must have been you who chased all of those Indian Maidens throught the hills of Minnesota.
