Voluntary Chemical Castration
Posted: Tue Oct 06, 2009 6:33 am
Hi All,
I hope this post is not out-of-place in this forum. I sense I may be able to get some thoughtful replies to my issues. As an introduction, I've written [see below] a brief of what I am going through.
Thanks to all for reading.

I currently receive my health care through the VA. I am a normal 52 year old male who desires*voluntary chemical castration. I am not a sex offender, or pedophile. I am retired from the US Navy (submariner)*and have no criminal background. I have a normal testosterone level and a 'normal' sex drive.*I simply have a sincere desire to be rid of my libido. I have ongoing visits with my psychiatrist and psychologist and this has been a long standing issue for me*(I am Bipolar II with General Anxiety Disorder). I have been evaluated extensively by a psychiatrist, a psychologist, and a PTSD psychologist... all who agreed I was not 'crazy'. The VA Urology department vetoed the procedure however.*I am forced to look outside of the VA for help in this area. I realize there are other methods advocated for reducing libido but do not feel they are appropriate for me. I*would not*consider an orchidectomy. I have done extensive research on this topic and it is *very* hard to find information about this for someone in my position.
Can you help me with any information about this? I'd appreciate the opportunity to talk with you as needed.
Thank you very much.

Docs,
I visit a lot of technical sites dedicated to PCs... hardware mostly because I love electronics and I love computers. You only have to visit one or two sites before you are exposed to it. What is it?
"Voluptuous women with most of their cleavage exposed in a sexually provocative pose."

I think this is sickening. All I want*is see, and discuss, the electronic equipment on the site. I know the market for these kinds of sites are probably mostly male... I think it's a sad commentary on our society when it is thought (probably true) that most men think primarily about sex (I'm guilty depending on what cycle my hormones are in).
*
I hate it. I want to be rid of it. It serves no useful purpose. Why continue suffering? This doesn't have to be as big an issue as it is. Why? Why is Viagra OK but*not Depo Provera or some other libido-suppressing drug?
*
Dr. [current t-doc]: Now I am pissed again from my calm yesterday.
Dr. [current p-doc]: If I can find some alternative to DP, something else that may be libido-suppressing, would you be willing to discuss this with me?
*
Thanks again to both of you for listening to me. I know you can't answer so I'm going to print it out and bring it to my next appointments.

PSS I think men have 'periods' just like women do... certainly hormonal cycles whether male or female. Am I wrong Dr. [current p-doc]? Or maybe we do and I'm missing something.

Hi Dr. [former p-doc],
I can't tell you how much I miss you. Not because of my doctors here. Dr [current p-doc] is OK and Dr [current t-doc] is OUTSTANDING. But I miss you. Chemical castration has reared it's ugly head once again (it's never been far away and it never will be). I went all summer with no sex drive. It was great. I was wondering what had happened but wasn't complaining. Came roaring back last month. I hate it. I wanted to include you in this message I just sent to [current p-doc] and [current t-doc]. Only because you are one of the few outlets I have that knows how I feel about this.... no doubt you know more about it than [current p-doc] but I have discussed it quite a bit with [current t-doc]. It still pisses me off after all these years that after all of the time you and I talked about this subject and Dr. [PTSD/sexual psychologist] giving her tacit approval, the folks in Urology, of all places, vetoed it saying it was a psychiatric problem. It wouldn't be a psychiatric problem if I wanted to take Viagra would it?
Thanks for listening doc.
With respect,
Mason/####

PS I hope you are doing well as is your brood.
