Sitting in an airplane?

What to do on an airplane when you find yourself seated next to a real jerk:
1. Take out your laptop.
2. Slowly open your laptop.
3. Turn it on.
4. Make certain your neighbor is watching.
5. Open your internet browser.
6. Close your eyes for a few moments, open them and then look up to the sky, or the heavens if you will.
7. Breathe deeply and open the site (

8. Look at the expression on your neighbor's face

Let me refine this a bit.
Get up and go to the bathroom carrying a package.
Come back wearing a burqua.
Proceed to Step 1.

I think you'd be in quite a bit of trouble when you reached the destination airport. It's amazing what's considered a terrorist act these days.
Complaining there's not enough Jack in your Jack-n-coke? That's an arrestin', followed by federal charges, a trial, and an all expense paid trip to Cuba.

Interesting.
Wierd thing, though... I'm usually entertained by this sort of thing, upsetting the 'norms', being a bit of a sarcastic jokester, etc, but after I giggled when I clicked the link, I thought for a second.
I seriously considered what I would do. I gotta admit; if I was on a plane and you did that next to me, I could very possibly go into extreme panic, and cause a hell of a lot of trouble. I'd probably either hyperventilate myself and faint, or punch you in the face, grab the laptop, and try to open the door to throw it out (as stupid a move as that would be). Seriously.
Wierd... !

That was one of the funniest things I have seen in a long time. Thanks for that!

I may have finally found a use for a laptop.
Thanks,

When I first typed my post, it was a bit longer, then I edited out my personal experience. Let me put it back in so you will not feel alone.
One my first trip to a job in the Middle East, I was on the redeye from Heathrow. We were 30,000 feet over the neighborhood from Hell (Syria and Iraq off the port wing). I was in that halfway state between sleep and consciousness that you get into on overnight flights. I suddenly became aware of a figure totally in black moving down the cabin. Then one or two more. My first reaction was pretty much alone your lines. Body tensed and jumped to alert. Blood surged. A half panicky feeling swept over me. Then I somehow became aware it was the ladies changing from London clothes to Abu Dhabi clothes for our landing. I can laugh at myself now, but there was a moment that it was not funny at all.
Don't feel alone in your reaction. Like a lot of humor, it is funny when you are separated from it. It is not so funny when you immersed in the situation.
