I have been thru hell, emotionally over the past few weeks. A "friend" who has whined on my shoulder told me I was ruining his fun when I said I was not in a good frame of mind. My partner of 30+ years days he will leave me if I continue to try to find someone to cut my balls off. I want to be a hermit! Does anyone else feel like life's not worth the effort, sometimes?

It may seem unfair but, many people who need a shoulder to cry on are not the ones to seek out when you need support. Just know that this is your friends limitation and not yours. It may be time to look for some one who is a good listener. Also know that your friend is responsible for the quality of his own life. It may also be time to set some limits with your friend if you have been feeling put upon to be there for him. Handle with care.

Without knowing more about your relationship I can't really say too much about your partner threatening top leave you. This could be a tactic to prevent you from harming yourself or just as easily it could be a frank communication of what relationship he is willing to be a part of. Some times our paths bring us together but sometimes following our paths leads us apart.

It really sounds to me like you could use someone to listen to you right now and that you are not finding that in your current relationships. Perhaps good counselor can fill that role better than a friend or lover. Also it may be the first step in reaching your goal. In fact I think it would be a big help for you in all the issues that you raised.

Finally I want to answer your question. Yes sometimes in the past I have found that life doesn't seem worth the effort, but I just doubled my effort and found that later it was worth it.

I guess I can touch that feeling you are talking about. It is a hard thing, but please, don't run...Stay and keep your mind open.

As Jemagirl (loveU) says, we don't know what the idea behind your partners reaction is. And are those hard words true, or is it only the fact that he has to find his way in your strange disire

Sometimes lives hurts.............I got hurt several times and one time it was me who hurt a complete family very badly, but if I look back, those "hurts" were the greatest lessons in my life, they made me who I am, and I most certainly don't want to forget about them.

So please, I beg you, stay, don't run, as long as you can get hurt, you're human, you have feelings...you don't want to loose that do you??
