But the front fell off!

Setting the Scene:

-- It's in Australia.

-- On 19th August 2007 an oil tanker split in two off the coast dumping

20,000 tons of crude oil into the sea. Senator Collins, a member of the

Australian Parliament, appears on a TV news programme to reassure

the worried Australian public. This is the actual interview, but you'd

swear it was scripted for a Monty Python sketch. Can't you just see

John Cleese sitting there saying, 'But the front fell off!'

Apparently, they don't intend for the front to fall off!

I find it hard to believe that this is for real. If it is it shows that Oz politicians are just a bunch of lying bastards same as in the rest of the western democracies.

That's precious. He's so wrong about everything and he knows nothing of the high seas or the construction of tankers.

It is hard to believe anyone but a politician would be that stupid.

You mean that isn't a comedy sketch? 😱

I thought it was brilliantly written. It's the funniest thing I have seen in a long time.... but it's sad if it actually is true. Are you sure it's real?

i also had my doubts that this was real when i first saw it, but i haven't been able to find any contrary information to the validity of it. Also, since Canada and the USA are in the midst of Federal elections, the stuff we're seeing on the campaign trail makes this video look really tame.

i really love the interviewer... at several points in the interview he's doing his best not to start laughing. It also appears that he's trying to decide if this whole experience is for real or whether someone is having a practical joke at his expense. i honestly get the impression that he just wants to blurt out, "You idiot! What have you been smoking before you came on my show!"

The 'politician' seems to be overdoing it a bit with his eyes and facial expressions, almost to the extent that this is meant to be comedy.

This whole video makes a good point as to why some people should listen more and speak less!

You mean I am supposed to think that tankers not made out of cardboard is serious? Who'd a thunk it?

This belongs on the political page. This fellow ought to be our next Secretary of the Treasury.
