The German translation of this story (The Stepfather) that has just appeared is really an adaptation. It adds the theme of ass fucking of eunuchs, which is not in the original story. The introduction in the German adaptation of the idea of eunuchs intermingling with intact boys of a similar age and being sexually available without prejudice to them in reality creates a different alternative universe or alternative society than the one in the original English version. The author of the original story did write that he wanted to introduce an element of bisexuality. This change would open the way for it.
