I think that's why we call them "sheep." Not to be too much of a smart-ass about it, but in a fight, sheep are, well, sheep.

Docking prevents parasite infections of the long tail.

Castration makes them chubby and juicy when we cook them.

Selective breeding also improves the fur for clothing.

I think they did wipe the area using a lime solution. (The kind of lime you use for cement, stucco, cleaning and so forth. Then it is pierced between the balls with a disinfected and honed (extremely sharp) knife. The incision is not much. Maybe only an inch long. The cutter squeezes one ball out and into his mouth and by using his teeth severs the cord and with his toungue pushes the severed cord back in. Then he spits out the testicle into a bowl and proceeds with the next one. This is after their tails have been lopped off and cauterized.

As far as being humane is concerned, I see it like this: To leave a herd unattended to and left to go "wild" would be by far, away, and beyond the very worst inhumane thing you could ever do. I am not exaggerating when I say that 99% percent of those animals would be gone within a week of being unattended to. And there would be every kind of horrible death and suffering inflicted on them by all kinds of predators imaginable. They would be caught in fences, trees, rocks, muck holes, sand and God knows what else. They might even be fighting amongst themselves while vicious dogs are looking on. Those things really ARE born looking for a place to die. This is from my experience.

I know a guy who was so kind, the nicest guy. He built a great home high up on a hill. One day their was a great flood. Within a short time he had every creature known to man occupying his home, and not one damn sheep.

Maybe he should have built a boat instead🙄
