If you like The Mentalist, I think you will like these shows, Criminal Minds and Lie to Me. Unfortunately, Lie to Me has been cancelled. In The Mentalist Patrick Jane reads people to solve crime. In Lie to Me Cal Lightman also reads people to solve crime. Both shows are rated 8.3 out of ten on IMDb.
You might also like NCIS and the CSI shows. I think that CSI: Miami is the poorest of the CSI shows and that the original is the best.
Here is how IMDb rates the CSI shows:
CSI: Crime Scene Investigation 8.3
CSI: Miami 6.5
CSI: NY 7.1
There is only 1 thing I like about "The MENTAList"...
ROBIN TUNNEY... (

....but then, you'd expect this from me, wouldn't you?

.. I'll bet you like Diners, Drive-ins and Dives....hehehe dragonfly
The Hitler Channel is my collective nickname for the History/Military Channels, which seem to always be running "Occult, SS Nannies of the Third Reich" type of shows.
Do like Triple D, but my favorites are Good Eats which is described as a cross between Julia Child, Monty Python an Mr Science, (three of my all time favorites,) and Chopped which takes me back to my Culinary School days, (where I still hold the distinction of being the only student in the history of the program to have my i

I used to watch Criminal Minds. Every since The Princess Bride, I will watch anything w/ Mandy Patinkin, but since he left the show it has increasingly become just torture-porn. I thought I felt similarly about Forrest Whittaker, but Criminal Minds: Los Angeles is the most preposterously overacted show I have seen. (Am I the only one who is sick to death of the endless stream of "Genius, hyper-sadistic, serial killers?" Hannibal Lecter was fun, but it's getting old fast.) When I am in a mood for mindless, I occasionally smoke a bit of Indica and watch one of the CSI/ Law & Order shows. Agree w/ you about CSI: Miami. Of late it seems mostly David Caruso staring into the distance, putting on and taking off his sunglasses, and making idiotic, gnomic statements. I liked the original w/ Grissom, particularly the first season show w/ Marcie Bowers.

Unfortunately, I have some sad news for you, in keeping with the thread.
The great and wonderful Alton Brown has announced that the 14th season of Good Eats (which just finished airing) will be the last. There are still three specials in the pipeline, but after that, no more Good Eats.
Tis a sad, sad day. The show is one of my all-time favourites as well.

Funny you bring up cooking shows, I love them, except Lidia's Italy, I cant stand her. Julia even the old reruns are great. America's test kitchen is also one I like, but my favorite is Fork in the Road.

Didn't you say you worked for the book dept. of Sunset magazine? Did you work with their cookbooks? I have a bookshelf of them. Did you meet any great chefs?
For years I said that from the way Julia handled a rump roast, you could tell she was good in bed. I was gratified that the movie Julie & Julia brought out that part of her personality.
