Then, may I give my strong endorsemnt to the "12" movies?
First, I think it was first at least, there was "12 Angry Men." The one with Henry Fonda.
Then, there was a remake of that film, with Jack Lemmon, sadly, not up to the original in my opinion.
BUT THEN... There is a RUSSIAN language version of the "Twelve Angry Men" story. I believe the U.S. release is titled simply "12." It is worth the rental.
Agreed, the first one with Henry Fonda was 5 stars where the remake although good was only 4 stars at best.

"The Sorcerer's Apprentice" with Nicholas Cage.
Boring, but good effects.
Sadly, they couldn't save it and not enough Alice Krige (Borg Queen herself!)
I hated it.
Maybe if they hadn't made the apprentice so goofy...

I went to see "True Grit" today. I like the Coen brothers and expected the movie to be good; it was; but I was disappointed in it. I liked Hailee Steinfeld, who played Mattie, but the Coens ruined it for me with the epilogue at the end leaving me seeing her as a old maid rather than as the cute girl she was in the movie. They should have left it to me to imagine how she might turn out. Sometimes, they tell you too much. I also thought Cogburn's mad dash to try to save her was a little inane. It was a good movie, but it wasn't the Great movie I was led to believe it would be.

Tonight we watched 'Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the crystal skull'
I should know better, the longer the title the worse the movie. It tried and failed to live off the success of the first three, it was a 2 hr chase scene. Sometimes its better to just remember the old movies for what they were and not try to bring back the old. It even lacked the Spielberg magic, but lived up to the Lucas story line or lack there of.
I give it 2.5 stars, my son would not give it any, he said it was a waist of his existence.
Special effects were OK,
and
Sometimes you just need to sit back an watch a mindless movie where you don't need to think to hard.

Crystal Skull was kinda just dumb in so many ways.
I just watched "Life As We Know It" with Josh Duhamell and Katherine Heigl
It's a sweet movie but contrived. Predictable, weepy and make you feel good stuff for girlfriends and latenight when you've eaten too many tacos with the hot sauce and your ass is on fire and you can't sleep...
