At least it's just a loose cable.

Last time that happened to me, it was because my GPU's VGA port was almost broken.

Worst of all, many of my software programs used on the old Windows would NOT operate on Windows 7, which was a disappointment. So, the Norton Works I bought to use as a pc doctor and anitvirus program was NOT compatible with Win 7 as was a few other software programs. One of which is WordPerfect, which I have been using since the 1990's (after my work gave my first computer to me). I am currently using a trial WordPerfect version (30days) before I have to decide whether I want to spend another $89.00 for something else. However, since I am retired, I only use the WordPerfect to write letters to people, address envelopes, and other word processing functions. Why buy all those other spreadsheet, Quatro, and Pinpoint presentations when I will NOT use them!

I am not happy with Window 7 and for me it is not easy. I just don't understand some of the new functions and how it's supposed to make my life easy????? Perhaps, I need to buy a "Windows 7 for Dummies" book if one is out yet.

Hi sailorboy,

Windows 7 does offer what is known as a compatibility mode for running older software. All you need to do is right click the installation application (.exe) file for the program which will bring up a new menu box which should have a "Compatibly" tab. Select the tab and you can choose a Windows environment going all the way back to Windows 95. Select the operating system where the program used to work and place a check mark in the box. You can then proceed to install the program normally and it should work just fine.

Oh, so I could install Photoshop CS2 and tell the installer Windows 2000 then? Then install? That would be cool, as I have no need for CS4 or higher and don't care to learn.
