The WPA out house? Cleaning lamp chimneys? Putting the icey ball on the stove to recharge it after milking in the morning and before milking at night in the summer? Kate Smith singing so high you would swear somebody was pouring icewater down her back! My first car was a 1946 DeSoto, The radio had to warm up and when you pushed on the gas, the vacumn wipers stopped. My 1956 Cadillac had the same problem. The only good thing about the good old days is,THEY ARE GONE!!!!!!!!!! We thought we were hot stuff to have a 6" Dumont or Hoffman television. Today the wife isn't satisfied with the 108" HDTV with surround sound. The lap top and the cell phone that need to be rebooted every so often. Still make me wait long enough to fix myself a drink until they are ready, just like the radio!
I do remember my first time of picking up balls, putting them in a bucket and taking them to the house for mom to cook.
I remember asking dad all the questions about it, that I could and the only answers I got were, "so they won't have babies," and "You don't want to know!"
You guys are making me feel old. I'm going to have to take my skate board to the mall and ride it down the escalator!
