Dave's comment about the snow frenzy always makes me laugh.
Same thing here. When the announce the first winter snowfall, the grocery stores go into overdrive. It's like Black Friday.
Then we get 2" of snow.
Really?! You can't drive that Prius through 2" of snow? Call me, I charge $50 a ride, and I can dig through 2 ft. like it's not even there.
Of course, I only get about 2 mpg when I'm doing it. But me and my $700 driveshaft and my $400/each (I have 2) hubs love to do it.
Then, a week later, when you CANNOT have used up all that crap you bought, they say "snow again!"
And the race is on to the bread and milk and eggs again!
Usually, be the fourth one, people are stocked up.
I'm always stocked up. At last count, I had over 300 cans of vegetables and the like, 20 -4-packs of toilet paper, 8 tubes of toothpaste, 14 sticks of deodorant, 6 toothbrushes, you name it, I got it. My back room looks like a grocery store. I also have over 200 candles, over 100 lighters, boxes of matches, lamp oil, wicks, 8 antique lamps and counting (I love to find 'new' ones).
Let it snow.
The stupidity of the public in winter amazes me.
Now if we could just get a good blizzard on Black Friday!
