Like I've said before, my generation grew up watching "Batman & Robin" (your avatar reminds me) on TV with all that camp, and Bugs Bunny dressing up in drag and kissing Elmer Fudd. There was even a wedding once.
And we wonder why?!?!

I have known a number of Gay people. "Gay" was a fairly popular girl's name when I was born, and rather instantly zeroed-out in the 1960s, when gay became a word with at least two meanings that may, in some folk's minds be deemed irreconcilable.
First, I read about the "Gay '90s" (the decade of the 1890s) and then I lived through the gay 90s (the decade of the 1990s).
"Gay" as a gir'ls name and "Gaylord" as a boy's name were both in use until around 1960, when they both, as I find indicated by available U.S Census statistics, apparently became profoundly unpopular.
I
(lightheartedness; by which I mean being truly able to live an actually enjoyable life) to be achieved through changing society so that hatred alone reigns supreme?
My innermost life? Gay all the way!
I am incurable!

Speaking of people named Gay;
The following is no joke, 100% true.
My Mom's best friend when we lived in Saskatchewan was a cool old bird, and her name was
Gay Powers.
I shit you not
