Is this a bad time to say History repeats itself?

Not at all. In fact, "history repeats itself" in rather entertaining ways in the case of the way they are telling this story. It is both true and humorous at the same time.
While the Roman historians are brief in the accounts of the slave rebellion, this story tries to fill in the gaps with all sorts of characters who plot, scheme and blather about the glory of Rome while acting like evil bastards. This is also the first time that Romans -- both citizens and slaves -- are shown in their baser and highly sexualized existences.
So the broad outline of history has to repeat, after all Spartacus didn't conquer Rome but did defeat Glaber and went on to fight some more. Think Seasons three and four.

This show will have a lot of turn over of characters at the rate the show is going thru people.
I see that much gross stuff daily as part of my job so it doesn't bother me
All the blood is rather unnecessary i think to the plot but is there to get people to watch
My ancestors were never conquered by the Romans ...the Romans built the Hadrian Wall to keep them out as they fought guerrilla style in the middle of the night..instead of massing in the daylight.

I kind of agree in that the blood and sex is overdone but considering that the film version of Spartacus barely discussed sex (They cut a scene out where the slave Tony Curtis was supposed to be in a bath with a Roman) and had that old cartoony violence, I'll take this interpretation.
I mean, you have to love any show that has flaming fireballs in it.
The sheer duplicity and backstabbing arrogance of Glaber simply amazed me when those trebuchets started launching.
And Illithea, the gorgeous blond with the big tits and (dare we spoiler her pregnancy, nah!) "with child" not Glaber's child, is the original black widow spider. She is responsible for more death than most of Rome's Legionnaires.
BTW, I think I saw a stunt penis last night.

In the first series, the strange spurting of blood in the gory scenes is overdone and I thought, quite unrealistic. I was very relieved. It would have been too horrible to watch if it was more believable. As it was, I very much enjoyed it - and I really like the sex scenes, the more the merrier.

She's just a delight when she gets her tits flapping those scenes. Sorry to be crude.
She's go this Lady MacBeth type roll. Once she started to scheme, she was better than her husband and embraced the dark side whole-heartedly. I can't wait to see what happens to her... She's got a convert in illithea and did her "I am an oracle of the gods" for Seppia and Glaber. Man, what a manipulation that was. Seppia and her brother made me squirm. They were too close and I don't mean that in a nice way.
Currently there's that blond, German Amazon-type that fights like a wild-man and attaches herself to the most powerful man around, she's the fun.
Ancient Rome inspires such decadence in me...

I was reading the TV schedule tonight to set up being in bed ready for the season finale.
Now STARZ repeats the 10pn show at midnight and the show at 10 pm is listed at 60 minutes and the repeat at 12 pm is listed at 65 minutes.
I doubt there will be 5 minutes of extra show.
I am certain there will be 5 minutes of extra commercials.

And history repeats itself in a grand and glorious manner.
As history records, Spartacus and his men found a way off the mountain and defeated Glaber's Romans with a surprise attack from the opposite side of Mount Vesuvius.
The scorecard is bloody and emotionally satisfying. It is as the series is titled "VENGEANCE" ...
I came back to add that Lucy Lawless and the house of Batiatus gets her/their vengeance in a most startling and squeamish way. Navia gets her vengeance on Asher for selling her to the mines.
And we get to see the flaming fireballs once again.

I will say one thing in criticism of the show...
In one scene the gladiators and filthy, bloody and unshaven and in the next, they are cleaned up by the makeup people.
